Overall this is a great bundle for the value. I've been out of the hobby for 6 years after selling my Lightbridge and this telescope is a welcomed return. The OTA's optics are high quality, sharp, and deliver great views. The LX65 mount is good for the beginner to the intermediate observer, but if you are interested in accuracy or delving into astrophotography it is lacking. I have overcome most issues by training the drive, using "high precision" mode, and setting an altitude limit when setting up. It performs reliably well when set up that way, but objects tend to drift out of center overtime. But if you are new to go-to scopes you will be pleased with its performance, I am just spoiled from set-ups I've had in the past. As always the Meade AudioStar system is great. The smartphone adaptor is decent, though it has a bit of a learning curve in setting up. The wide-angle aspheric set included is good for the value they are. I use the 23mm a lot, the 10mm is pretty decent, but the 4mm is just too high of a magnification for me. For those with few eyepieces, they are great to have. I plan on getting a more advanced EQ mount in the future so that I can go into astrophotography. I am confident the ACF design will deliver great images as I learn. Until then I am pretty pleased with this set as a re-entry into the hobby and recommend it for anyone looking for an upgrade from their smaller starter scopes.

The package arrived as detailed. It went together per the instructions, although a spell check of the instructions would not hurt....lol. I ordered some additional support pieces of equipment and am enjoying the scope very much. A few suggestions though...as this is my first scope from OPT...there should be suggestions added for the purchaser,,i.e. 8 C batteries or the OPT/Meade power pack, the cable to connect your laptop to the scope via autostar, the CD-ROM which came with the scope has nothing to do with the LX65 and, I was looking for the stated video set up and it does not exist on the CD... but the owners manual does … but I was looking forward to the video for some tips … also if you are looking also contact a representative for suggestions for a carrying case....I know I am a rookie at this but it would have been nice if I could have been prompted for these kind of things prior to the overall purchase. However, all that being said the folks at OPT and Bread were awesome, responsive and knowledgeable and always answered questions with competence and made sure I understood what was going on. I would recommend this scope as well as OPT for anyone looking for a good scope and friendly and knowledgeable representatives. One last thing...if you are going to use the Bread option to finance your purchase make sure you use Chrome, otherwise the payment option for finance will not work.
