OPT carries a wide selection of Meade Instrument’s cutting-edge Telescopes and Optical Tube Assemblies (OTA). Whether you are an Advanced Astro-imager looking for a high-end astrograph or a budding Amateur Astronomer, you are sure to find the right Telescope with your needs and skill level!

We offer everything from Meade's simple Refractor Telescopes, high-powered Triplet Apos, to large Dobsonian “light buckets”.

Meade Telescopes are produced in several series to fit your exploring style and needs. 

Meade Beginner Telescopes:
  • The LightBridge Series of Tabletop Dobsonian design telescopes are a new take on portability. Use a table or large rock to place it on and you are set! There are three sizes to choose from: 82, 114, and 130 mm (3, 4.5, and 5-inch apertures.
  • The Adventure Scope Series – These 60 and 80 mm Achromatic Refractors are perfect for day or night observing on the go. Each with its own backpack, lightweight aluminum tripod, and accessories kit.
  • The Infinity line of refractor telescopes are the ideal instrument for those wishing to observe both terrestrial and astronomical objects. These are all manually controlled to you can take them with you without having to be concerned about power. Each model has an appropriate Altitude-Azimuth Mount/tripod to easily point the scope for land and sky observing. The variety of available apertures are 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 102 mm (2 to 4-inches). There is an optical finder with the 50 mm size, while the others are all equipped with a red-dot viewfinder. Each comes with multiple eyepieces and a Barlow lens. Optional carry bags are also available.
  • The StarPro AZ line has everything you need to start observing right out of the box.  These refracting telescopes are available in 70, 80, 90, and 102 mm size apertures. It features a manual Single-Arm Alt-Azimuth Mount with slow-motion control cables on both axes. With a Vixen-style receiver, you will have the ability to switch out a variety of your optical tubes. The tripod features an accessory tray for the include eyepieces, Barlow lens, and diagonal. There is also a bonus smart phone adapter which allows you to observe and take images right through the eyepiece.  Optional carry bags are also available.
  • The Polaris line of both reflector and refractor telescopes come with all the necessary equipment and feature a manual Equatorial Mount with slow-motion controls that allow for easy tracking of celestial objects. Apertures in the Polaris Series include 70, 80, and 90 mm Refractors; and 114, 127, and 130 mm Reflectors. There are three eyepieces, a Barlow lens, and a red-dot viewfinder. Optional carry bags are also available.
Meade Intermediate Telescopes:
  • The ETX Observer Series of telescopes are on a Computerized GoTo dual-arm fork Alt-Az mount and tripod. The AudioStar system has a built-in speaker so the observatory/planetarium software gives you guided tours of the night sky with over 4 hours of audio content and over 30,000 objects at your fingertips. These are available in 80, 90, and 125 mm size aperture OTAs. The ETX80 includes a backpack for easy traveling and the ETX90 includes a carry bag. The 90 and 127 mm scopes have mounts with a full-size Steel Tripod with an EQ Tilt Plate to help with Astro-imaging.
  • The LX65 Series of Telescopes/Mounts are distinguished by their black bodies and surfaces with blue bands. The mount is a computerized GoTo of Altitude-Azimuth design with the ability to hold two tubes at once! Its max combined payload capacity is 21-pounds. The telescopes sizes are in 5, 6, and 8-inch aperture ACF and Maksutov-Cassegrain optical designs. AudioStar is also included.
  • The LX85 Series of Telescopes/Mounts are distinguished by their white bodies and surfaces with blue bands. It has a computerized GoTo of German Equatorial Mount design and control. This mount has a 33-pound payload capacity. The sizes are in 5, 6, and 8-inch apertures of reflectors and refractors along with 70, 80, and 115 mm aperture Apochromatic Refractors (Astrographs). AudioStar Hand Box is included. 
Meade Advanced Telescopes:

The three LX series below have heaver tripods, can carry much bigger payloads, and precision is key. These are all great for Astro-Imaging and the larger ones are found in both amateur and professional observatories around the world.

  • LX200 -EQ Mounts for 8”, 10”, 12”, 14”, AND 16” ACF (Advanced Coma Free) Telescopes.
  • LX600 -EQ Mounts match with the ACF Telescopes in 10”, 12”, 14”, and 16” Apertures
  • LX850 – German Equatorial Mounts for the ACF Telescopes in 10”, 12”, 14”, and 130 mm Apertures.
  • Imagers will appreciate a special feature of the Meade ACF OTAs is the Ultra-High Transmission Coatings (UHTC) found on these models, for maximum image brightness and contrast.
