The TS Photoline 80mm f/6 FPL53 Triplet Refractor is the perfect travelling companion to your favorite dark sky site. It is perfect to use for both observational (visual) astronomy and astrophotography, with the best mechanics to ensure top-quality images of the night sky are at your fingertips!
This apochromatic telescope has excellent color correction, making chromatic aberration something that you don't have to worry about with your images! The multi-coated 3 element lens is professionally crafted with FPL53 as the APO element. The f/6 focal ratio ensures short exposure times for astrophotography while keeping the refractor a compact, portable size.
The oversized drawtube with 60mm of clear aperture provides you with full illumination, even if you are using a full-frame camera. You won't have to worry about any stray light affecting your images or visual experience, since the CNC tube is equipped with internal baffling and top-of-the-line internal blackening.
Along with the Photoline Refractor, you will receive a rack and pinion focuser, with the support decoupled from the drawtube drive. It is designed with a 1:10 dual speed system, allowing for ultra-precise focusing.
The Photoline Triplet Refractor has M68x1 internal thread (female), allowing you to add on your favorite astrophotography gear safely and securely. A retractable dew cap allows for the transport length to be only 37.5 cm! High-quality CNC rings and a GP style dovetail bar is fashioned with photo tripod connection. Pipe clamps have three M6 threaded holes at the top -- one in the middle and two with a 30 mm center-to-center distance. What's more, a finder shoe is already assembled on the refractor!
Visual Use
You can configure the Photoline Triplet Refractor with a star diagonal, eyepiece, and viewfinder that will give you a great, lightweight set-up on the go. A long-focal wide-angle eyepiece can also be used in place of a viewfinder.
If you wish to use this telescope for daytime adventures including bird watching, you can use an Amici prism rather than the zenith mirror to give you a spotting scope. It is recommended to use a zoom eyepiece, since it is generally more comfortable to use and its field diaphragm usually doesn't exceed the free passage of the Amici prism, which prevents vignetting.
Astrophotographic Use
In order to use this high-intensity refractor telescope for astrophotography, you want to make sure your field is corrected so that you still have nice, round stars at the edge of your field of view. See the options for correctors below.
-
TSFlat2 - this corrector will not change the focal length of your telescope. You can insert it directly into the 2" socket and clamp with the adapter kit. The working distance is 123 mm from the M48 connection thread of the corrector. It is recommended to use the TSFlat2 for cameras up to APS-C format. The TSFlat2A gives you the complete adaption to your camera.
-
TSRed279 - this is a reducer and corrector. The 0.79x corrector will reduce the focal length of this refractor to 379 mm, while increasing the focal ratio from f/6 to f/4.74. You will attach the reducer directly to the 2" plug-in sleeve clamped. Working distance from the T2 thread is 61 mm. It is recommended to use the TSRed279 for cameras up to APS-C format sensors. For the adaption of a DSLR camera, you will need: TST2V5 (5 mm T2 extension ring) and T2AbstimmA1 (1 mm tuning ring)
