Tele Vue TV60 APO Telescope OTAAre you looking for the perfect small refractor telescope? Then look no further than the Televue TV60 Doublet Refractor. Exquisitely crafted from its anodized all-aluminum exterior right down to its incredible Nagler optics the TeleVue TV60 will respond like no other 60mm aperture refractor you've ever dreamed of.
This high performance 2.4", 360mm f/6 APO doublet gives a maximum true field of 4.3, which makes it superior for both terrestrial and astronomical use. Standard features include a 2-stage 1.25" focuser which accepts in-line porro prism, 45 deg erectors, or 60 deg and 90 deg diagonals... and does it with a quick-focus drawtube and tunes it with a helical fine focus. The apochromatic design coupled with well above standard multi-coatings mean outstanding color correction, while precision internal machining combined with a sliding captive dew shield means no stray light bouncing around to disturb the perfect view.
At only 10" long (254mm) and weighing in at around 3 pounds (1.4 kg), the Televue TV 60 is a portable piece of perfection. The TV60 includes an adjustable dovetail balancing bar which fits all camera tripods and will instantly become a favorite of those who seek a great telephoto lens and imaging capability for digital cameras - great for birding and nature photography - as well as long distance spotting. But, don't stop there, because the TV60 likes to stay up late and party, too. The Televue TV60 Doublet Refractor will also give outstanding performance as a small astronomical telescope and combined with an optional Nagler Zoom eyepiece will give incredible lunar and planetary views.

Small Aperture Fever!
'--The TV-60 is an outstanding example of a durable, versatile lightweight scope, and I have easily stuffed mine into a backpack, carry-on bag, and under the seat of my car. This means I can take a great scope to places where I previously had to do without. I am frequently amazed that the resolution and the sharpness are so good (although no one should expect it to match the light grasp of a heavier scope, and you may need a fine night to see all the Messiers, although you will find plenty to do with it. There are lighter scopes, but the durability and quality of this small scope seems to be in a class of its own. During the day, I am amazed how things look so much better with this scope than they do when I am up close with unassisted vision. --Drawbacks have been minimal and pale beside the benefits. It isn't waterproof, and the short focal length may require you to pick up a small focal length eyepiece, or something like Siebert Optics' superb modular Barlow, for the high power views of which this scope is capable (a standard Barlow may not work. I also recommend a UV filter to protect the lens from dust and scratches (at higher powers, the UV filter smears the image but can easily be removed. --I have compared it to other similar scopes and this one is a keeper. It's just a lot of fun to have something this small with this much quality.
Fantastic little scope!
This is an outstanding little refractor. The mechanics, fit & finish, and views are are all top notch. This is the most-used scope I own. It's small size and light-weight make it an awesome grab-and-go instrument when coupled with a light weight mount (such as the Televue Telepod. The dew-shield has two tapped holes to attach a Televue Quick-point finder (or other compatible finder with the same hole spacing. I've found that a red-dot finder is useful for aiming the scope even though the scope provides a wide-enough field to be used as it's own finder. While a 60mm scope is not going to be an outstanding deep-sky instrument, it's still enough aperture for pleasing views of the brighter & larger deep sky objects. The planets also look quite impressive as long as the power isn't pushed to high. Highly recommended product.
