Compact Starlight Instruments Electronic Focusing System (EFS) with HSM20 motor, control box, and hand controller works with any ASCOM compliant software.
Control box is 4.13-inches (105 mm) long, 2.87-inches (73 mm) wide and 1.1-inches (28 mm) thick.
Hand controller has an innovative feature in that you can change the number of steps the focuser moves with 1 step, 10 step, or 100 step increments. This is done by pressing the knob on the hand controller. Each step speed has an LED light mode, RED 1 step, Amber 10 step, 100 Green step. It is connected to the EFS control hub via RJ11 cable.
The EFS system draws a maximum 1 amp of power at 12V

HSM20 Stepper Motor
This "Handy" stepper motor unit works exclusively on the Focuser Boss II electronic focuser. The design of this motor housing allows you to still be able to manually turn the focus knob on the focuser by simply turning the over-ride knob on the motor housing. This motor has a built-in temperature thermistor for temperature control through the SI-EFS and the Focuser Boss II digital system. Here are the various motor choices:
- The HSM20 has 19,450 steps per inch and the HSM30/35 has 24,300 steps per inch.
This HSM20 motor unit fits the 2.0-inch FeatherTouch focusers, MPA Retrofits (Takahashi and Tele Vue), and Micro FeatherTouch Telescope Focusers for the SCT scopes.
- The HSM30 motor unit fits the 2.0-inch, 2.5-inch, and 3.0-inch FeatherTouch Rack/Pinion focusers, along with the 2.7-inch Astro Physics focuser with the FeatherTouch Upgrade.
- The HSM35 motor unit fits the 3.5-inch FeatherTouch Rack/Pinion focuser and the 4.0-inch Astro Physics focuser with the FeatherTouch Upgrade.
- The Tak option will fit any Takahashi 4-inch stock focuser.
The motor connects to the EFS control hub via Ethernet cable.
