Product Details

  • This Sky-Watcher 150 mm Maksutov-Cassegrain Telescope is a portable scope with impressive performance. You could take it along on your next trip to a star party or even on a vacation. Although this telescope is compact in size, it has the optical quality you expect from a fine Maksutov-Cassegrain OTA. Because it uses the diffraction-limited Maksutov optical system, it produces high resolution sharp images with high contrast. The optical elements are fully multi-coated to further enhance the image contrast. The aperture of this scope is 150 mm or 5.9" for extra light gathering capacity, meaning you will get brighter and sharper images.

With this 150 mm Maksutov-Cassegrain Telescope by Sky-Watcher focusing is accomplished by turning a knob on the rear housing of the scope, which moves the primary mirror slightly to adjust focus. Focusing is smooth and precise. Your Star Diagonal and eyepiece never move. Speaking of the Star Diagonal, this scope includes a 2" 90 degree Star diagonal to make viewing more comfortable.

The Sky-Watcher 150 mm Maksutov-Cassegrain Telescope also comes with a 2" 28 mm LET eyepiece. The included 8x50 finder scope makes it easy to find those celestial objects. This 150 mm (5.9") aperture Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope by Sky-Watcher provides a serious aperture for impressive bright images of celestial objects in and out of the solar system. With nearly 6" of aperture and a proven diffraction-limited Maksutov-Cassegrain optical system, you will be amazed at the new celestial observations you will accomplish in no time. Begin experiencing the thrill of astronomical discovery now.

Excellent Grab and Go Scope

Pros: Very good optics. Image quality is actually better than an SCT. Has almost the sharpness and contrast of an APO refactor. Very portable and lightweight for a 6" scope. I use it often. Excellent Value 2" Visual back / Quality Diagonal Included 2" EP is better than I expected. (A step above a "stock" EP.) The OTA finish is attractive. Cons: Rather narrow field of view due to the long F/12 focal length. This is the big drawback for me. Balancing the scope can be difficult when using heavy 2" EP or heavy accessories. The finderscope is OK but the straight through design makes it awkward to use. I would recommend as a second scope.

Sky-Watcher 150mm Mak-Cass

Great scope. Performs well mechanically and optically. Cool down period not excessive. Well suited to use on Celestron AVX mount.Made some modifications for ease of use - rotating visual back, two speed focuser, red dot finder. Fits in well with my other equipment aperture ranges. Looking forward to future observing sessions.
