This is very nice tripod, but 55 lb capacity is not realistic.

The fit and finish of this tripod are top-notch and the quick-release plate is really convenient. If only used as a camera tripod or to hold a small visual telescope I think the Radian would be an excellent option, however the 55 lb stated load capacity is not realistic. With the legs fully extended and with heavier payloads the tripod is susceptible to axial movement, particularly if the center of gravity of the gear is not maintained directly over the center of the tripod.

Great Tripod!

I’m excited to use this not only for Astrophotography, but also for time-lapse photography. If it holds up well this next year I might get a second one! Strongly considering an additional quick release plate so one just lives on my tracker.

Best Tripod Ever

Before the Radian tripod was released, I was contemplating buying a heavy duty tripod for my Star adventurer. As I was shopping for a tripod, OPT announced the release of this tripod so I gave it a shot. This tripod is as heavy duty as they come. This tripod is very stable and I love the height when it’s fully extended. Makes it much easier for me to polar align instead of getting on the around to look for Polaris.

The best tripod I have ever owned

Without a doubt, the best tripod I have ever owned. Has every option much more expensive tripods have at a percentage of the weight. I have put close to 50lbs in astrophotography gear on it and didn't budge whatseover. Bonus is the removable monopod leg which I can double for daytime shooting!
