- QHY PoleMaster
Does not adapt to Orion Sirius EQ-G. I did ask but they thought it did. I'll go to my local friendly machine shop and have them make an adapter for the adapter. Nothing wrong with quality, inconvenience is the problem. You need to try it on a larger "universe" of mounts.
There are few accessories as useful and worth at as the QHY PoleMaster. But it can't be used without attachment. The universal adapter makes that easy. This is it.
Just what ì needed as attaching to my dovetail plate was a no go. I used some Krazy Glue to attach to my polar opening and it worked perfectly.
As someone who constantly monitors polar alignment throughout the capture process, this was a must. With a little modification I’ve mounted the QHY Universal PoleMaster Adapter to my Celestron CGX handle. I filed down a plane on the CGX handle that is perpendicular to the polar axis of the mount. I then threaded a hole in the center of the plane. Celestron, or any accessory maker, could sell a replacement handle that’s made this way. https://twitter.com/wadeprunty/status/1236740374829424641?s=21
Use this polemaster generic adapter to get great polar alignment on those old 70s & 80s classic Criterion, Meade, Starliner, Parks, Cave mounts that don’t have a pole scope bore or fine adjustments. Purchase the correct diameter pipe/conduit hanger that matches the OD of the mount for $1 at the hardware store. Then attach this 1/4-20 generic adapter to the hanger as close to the RA center axis as possible.
I needed this adapter to attach to the lid of an 8” SCT on an Alt Az mount with a wedge. It worked perfectly because it jas a nice smooth back surface making it very easy to attach it to a flat surface with a double sided sticky tape. I was able to achieve very accurate polar alignment and nearly perfect tracking on PHD2.
