Meade X-Wedge

The Meade X-Wedge - 07028 is designed for long exposure astrophotography and imaging with Meade LX200 and LX600 models. This extremely heavy-duty wedge allows for secure and stable mounting with exceptional vibration damping of larger Meade SC and ACF telescopes.

Features of the Meade X-Wedge

  • Constructed from ultra-rigid aircraft grade aluminum with smooth, accurate Altitude and Azimuth adjustments.
  • Permits precise polar alignment of your telescope. The wedge allows the astrophotographer to align the telescope's axis of rotation with the Earth's axis of rotation. This alignment eliminates stars in your long exposure photograph from appearing as a long arc, trail or streak due to an effect known as field rotation.
  • Large, easy to use knobs make adjustments easy, even when wearing gloves!

Waiting for clouds to clear. Although: my take is that it is well designed, and nicely manufactured. Hard to wait, what have they done to our skies.

Limited experience

X-wedge is well constructed and rigid. Installation of a 10”Meade lx200 is easily accomplished with two people. I have not attempted to mount the scope myself. There is considerable backlash in the mount adjustments but it has not presented much difficulty in achieving my first reasonable polar alignment. Hope to try aligning with a Polemaster camera soon.
