The Meade 8-inch LX200-ACF f/10 OTA Telescope is designed with Advanced Coma-Free optical system, removing aberrations and producing pinpoint stars! Nearly every observatory reflector in the world uses an aplanatic (coma-free) optical system like the Ritchey-Chretien (RC), including NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. Features of the Meade 8-inch LX200-ACF f/10 OTA 

  • Primary Mirror Lock locks the mirror in place during long-exposure astrophotography.
  • Oversize Primary Mirror diameters are greater than their listed aperture (e.g., the diameter of the 8-inch LX200-ACF is actually 8.25-inch). This additional 0.25-inch yields a wide, fully illuminated field-of-view.
  • Schott Borofloat Glass Corrector Plate designed with outstanding thermal resistance, high-transparency, and mechanical strength.
  • Losmandy-style Dovetail machined for lightness and rigidity from aluminum stock and black anodized for tough corrosion-free surfaces.

Building from a classic RC design, Meade has created a new design with the same coma-free pinpoint star images and flatter field that discerning astrophotographers and most professional observatories have come to expect from classic Ritchey-Chretien optics.

Meade's Advanced Coma-Free system also reduces the astigmatism and eliminates diffractions spikes found in classical RCs. The LX200-ACF is the perfect platform for the demanding researcher and imaging enthusiast.

Meade Ultra-High Transmission Coatings (UHTC)

Increases total light transmission and image brightness by nearly 20% over Meade's standard coatings. Objects such as stars, galaxies, and nebulae will appear significantly brighter.

    Meade 8" ACF f/10 LX200 OTA

    This is my 2nd Meade SCT, and like my previous one, shows a text book star test, indicating very good optics, is solidly built (all metal construction including radius blocks and a Losmandy style dovetail bar, even the end caps are metal), shows no image shift on focusing, has a mirror lock, top of line coatings, and a coma free design. Very impressed and happy! Only issue was collimation was a bit off right out of the box, but that was easily corrected on my first night out.
