  • Amazing modular solar telescope with versatile usage
  • 80 mm of aperture and a solid f/7 focal ratio

Product Details

  • The New Lunt LS80MT is a super powerful modular telescope that transforms one of Lunt Solar Systems most popular sized telescopes into an ultra-functional masterpiece! At 80mm Aperture and a FPL53 Doublet Lens, the LS80MT is a high performance ED refractor that is optimally designed, whether you are observing active Sun spots or peering at the wonders of the Milky Way. In Hydrogen Alpha configuration single stack mode, the LS80MT gives you excellent views at <.7angstroms bandpass with Lunt’s renowned Doppler True Tuning (pressure tuned) system.

As if the LS80MT wasn't amazing enough, it can also transform from a full-on Hydrogen Alpha telescope into a night time or terrestrial telescope with ease! All you need to do it remove your Hydrogen Alpha module (modules if you are double stacked) and replace with the backing plate and focuser (optional / available in packages). You'll be able to traverse through the stars or peer at your favorite local bird for terrestrial applications. It is super portable, weighing under 10 lbs, allowing you to take it with you on a cross-country or international trip to your favorite dark sky site!

Hailed for its versatility, the LS80MT can be used with all of the popular Lunt wavelengths -- Hydrogen Alpha, White Light, Calcium K, etc. On top of that, this scope can be used in less than perfect viewing conditions during Hydrogen Alpha configuration, making it the perfect choice if you live in light-polluted urban areas. You'll never have a shortage of viewing possibilities!

True Doppler Tuning is an awesome addition to the LS80MT. It allows for a shift both into and away from the user, which adds a 3-D like aspect to your viewing experience. This tuning has minimal effect on proms, due to their location at the edge of the disk. However, it does have an effect on filaments and likewise the active regions on the surface. You'll be able to Doppler shift from the base of the filament to the tip if you are looking at a filament that is at the center of the Sun, thus following the filament through its structure toward you and away from you. What this all translates to is that you'll gain an enhanced visual and imaging capability as an observer, while an avid hobbyist will be able to yield great research from this observation. This pressure tuning system allows for more precision to the tuning of desired features.

An internal double stack module (SFPT) for LS80MT provides a beautifully enhanced and high definition view of the surface details on the Sun. Double stacking lowers the bandpass of the system from <0.7 Angstrom to <0.5 Angstrom. This scope can be internally double-stacked with the SFPT unit at the time of purchase or anytime thereafter. The LS80MT telescope will not need to be returned to the factory for double-stacking!
