• A stable mount and tripod with a suitable load-bearing capacity is an essential tool that is needed to support large binoculars. The new U-Mount with field tripod is perfectly designed to be used with the BT Series of large binoculars from Explore Scientific. It can also fit most other binoculars that have a lens diameter of 70-120 mm with a 1/4" photo thread connection on the underside. You will notice with the U-Mount that there are NO annoying vibrations, making it seem as if it was all manufactured in 1 piece. It provides amazing observing conditions, no matter what position you set your binoculars to the night sky or terrestrial landscape.

  U-Mount

  This solid, portable mount is a great travel partner when you want to take your observations on the road. It is masterfully designed with a fine-grained mechanism that has adjustable friction in both axes while enabling easy adjustment and tracking. Depending on the set intensity of the friction, the position of the binoculars is kept rock-steady or a soft and even movement can take place. The large adjusting screws on both axes run smoothly and are easy to used, even with gloves on. The massive construction of the U-Mount is designed to reduce vibrations to an absolute minimum. You can easily separate the U-Mount and tripod for easy transportation.

  Your binoculars can be easily mounted and removed in just seconds, with the help of the quick-change adapter plate that is included with the U-Mount and tripod. The connection between the binoculars and adapter plate is made using two 1/4" threaded bolts (standard photo tripod thread), which are guided in an elongated hole. The double screw connection guarantees a stable and secure fit of your binoculars. The adapter plate is also attached directly to the U-Mount with the help of 2 large clamping screws (also easy to use with gloves on).

  Field Tripod

  You are guaranteed a secure stand using the Explore Scientific field tripod, regardless of the surface. Its solid aluminum and stainless steel construction are a great barrier from any possible vibrations. The 50 mm diameter stainless steel tripod legs and the aluminum tripod head plate are a dynamite combination that both offer maximum stability with a moderate weight of 5.8 kg (13 lbs). When the tripod legs are pushed in, the transport dimensions are only 80 cm long. The included accessory tray also acts as a brace to push the tripod legs towards the outside, therefore increasing stability. The working height for the binoculars using this tripod can range from approx. 100-140 cm.
