Product Details

  • Coronado has a new Flagship solar telescope, the SolarMax III 90 f/8.8 Solar Telescope. This telescope is specifically designed to maximize image quality for both Solar Imaging and visual observing. The SolarMax III 90 now offers the sharpest, highest contrast images that Coronado has to offer! It has the largest aperture and longest focal length in the SolarMax III series. It offers the highest magnification potential and clearest views. Powerful but very portable, this telescope is ideal for serious solar enthusiasts and professional research facilities

    Stacking Options

    Single Stack

Single Stack Immage Of The Sun

A single etalon system will provide a less than 0.7 Å bandpass which produces bright images that allow for excellent viewing of the Sun’s edge details (prominences and flares). It also provides a view of the more active features on the sun surface.

    Double Stack

Double Stack Immage Of The Sun

By adding an additional Etalon filter to a single stack solar telescopes (double stacking) will arrow the bandpass of the system to less than 0.5 Å. This will slightly dim the feature at the edge of the sun but will greatly enhance the contrast of the features of the suns surface. Now you will be able to see the fine details of filaments, granular structures, and active regions.

    Blocking Filter Options

    15mm Blocking Filter

This blocking Filter is ideal for visual use with the SMIII 90. It will reduce ghost images and is ideal for focal lengths up to 1500mm. So you will be able to use a 2x Barlow for increase magnification without any issues. While a smaller 10mm blocking filter would work in this case, Coronado includes this larger option to allow the use of eyepieces with larger field-stop diameters to be used without vignetting occurring.

    30mm Blocking Filter

The 30mm Blocking filter ideal for Imaging although it can be used for visual use. The larger opening of the filter will allow for a larger light cone to illuminate a sensor up to the size of an APS-C DSLR. The BF30 is also rated for focal lengths up to 3000mm so you ’ll be able to use 3x Barlow to Image small regions of the sun.

    Key Features

    • External EtalonsGives higher contrast views, darker backgrounds, and sharper features compared with models using smaller internal H-α etalon designs
    • Two-Speed Rack & Pinion FocuserThe two-speed, 2” focuser has both coarse and fine focus controls allowing the user to get a more precise focus, critical for both solar imaging and visual observing.
    • RichView Tuning
This patented system allows direct tuning of the primary filter etalon. Now you can tune for the highest contrast views of active regions, flares, filaments, and other surface detail, or quickly and easily re-tune for prominences on the solar limb.
