The cable needs to be much longer at least Six (6) feet

Did what it was supposed to do.
I have been very happy with the equipment and the service. I did have to return 2 cables but it was really my bad. LOL quick response on crediting my account. Thank You very much. If I ever get to Oceanside I will make it a point to stop in.I was born just outside of L.A. in Downey Ca. in 1950. Have a great day.
I used this to upgrade the firmware on a Celestron telescope (4SE model) hand control unit with no problems. To do this I also bought another cable called a "Celestron RS-232 Cable for NexStar & CGE Mounts". I also downloaded Clestron firmware updater software The two cables plug into each other, worked perfectly first try.
Nothing on packaging nor the scant paperwork inside has anything to do with Celestron. Save yourself $10 and get it on Amazon or Ebay. It's just a generic adapter. :( https://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-Converter-Installation-Universal-TU-S9/dp/B0007T27H8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1538800885&sr=8-1&keywords=Trendnet+USB+to+RS232+Adapter
