The best experience for beginners and more advanced telescope users alike

One of the best things the Celestron 6-inch NexStar Evolution is that there is no use for external power supply as it is built-in. It comes with a lithium-ion battery so that you will be able to enjoy up to 10 hours of stargazing on a single charge. This series also comes with a USB charge port to top off the other devices in your life that need to stay powered on during an observing session.

In the past, most large telescope systems have been challenging to set up and move. The NexStar Evolution series is far from that with large, ergonomic handles that help you move it easily from place to place. Its set up is also easy enough for any beginner astronomer to understand. The steel tripod features leg etchings to help you achieve a level, uniform height for your telescope. Manual clutches in both altitude and azimuth offer greater flexibility to manually point the telescope when powered off. You will also be able to store up to 7 eyepieces in 2 accessory trays, one with an adjustable red LED illuminator.

If you are interested in astro-imaging, the 6-inch NexStar Evolution is an excellent, affordable way to get started. It's the only fork-mounted telescope in its price range that offers worm gears, along with improved motors. NexStar Evolution's tracking accuracy is so impressive, you can capture images of deep-sky objects like the Orion Nebula by simply attaching your DSLR camera. As you progress in the hobby of astro-imaging, you can add our Pro HD Wedge to achieve longer exposures for more detailed astrophotos. Of course, the Schmidt-Cassegrain optical system offers bright, sharp views with StarBright XLT optical coatings - a great choice for visual observers and budding astro-imagers alike.

If I Never See Another Counterweight It Will Be Too Soon! (Game Changer)

My goal after shedding my C11 and the 30 Lbs of counterweights that go with it, was to get something light and capable. Capable of what? Observing the entire Messier list and could I be so brazen as to expect this mount to track a deep space galaxy without polar alignment and running in Alt/Az mode? Yes it can! Turns out this mount has high precision brass worm gears and very accurate tracking right out of the box. I used 30 second subs to avoid field rotation (use a wedge if you need to do longer exposures). I'm still stunned it was able to track the Whirlpool Galaxy with me messing around not even remembering first time to put the reducer on the scope. So it imaged the Whirlpool Galaxy at F10 with just a two star alignment. I loved the mount so much, I put a C8 on it. But the C6 is a great scope - it will smoke a 5" refractor on Jupiter (perfect colour - 1500 mm focal length). Those Galaxy pics were done off the cuff - after two years of being on the couch - LOL!

Celestron 6" Review

I am getting all the additional information and accessories to complete a so far great experience. Only problem i'm having being confined to a mobil scooter for amputees is moving the unit in and out of my home. Do need a transportation device that would make this manageable. Other wise the telescope is worth every penny I have put into it

Works as advertised, right out of the box!

The Celestron Nexstar Evolution 6" is my first telescope. I bought it about a week ago, and have only had one chance to use it, due to weather. It is very quick and easy to set up. I followed the super simple instructions on how to align the scope, and it worked perfectly! I was able to point at an object and select "go to", and the scope found and centered it perfectly! I was amazed at the detail I saw in Jupiter and it's moons. I could easily see the bands and the red spot. I am eager to get out to some really dark areas away from town to take a look at some deep sky objects. I can't get over how easy this scope is to use!!
