Clarify Alignment and Assembly Instructions
Assembly is intuitive, but there is a slight learning curve. Some clarification need on instructions. Make sure to slide the scope all the way forward on the track until it seats on the grooved portion of the track and the label can be clearly seen, then tighten down the quick release knob. Preferably, test it out on a soft surface the first time in case you forget something and the scope slides. If it is correctly positioned and tightened on the track, the scope should not slide. Test it by wiggling it back and forth to make sure it doesn’t move. Also, for alignment using the wedge, use wedge align option under settings in the SkyPortal app. Remember to “teach” the telescope it’s home position first, before connecting and aligning, by moving the azimuth and latitude positions of the scope so that the index marks line up on the fork. Otherwise, you will keep getting error messages after the alignment process is complete, and the “go to” function will send the scope to incorrect positions. The scope gives some excellent viewing. For starters, you should be able to pick out Saturns rings, see Venus’s phases, and pick out Jupiter’s moons just using the 40 mm eyepiece.
Great so far! Needed a little calibration and the cool down time is significant but this is like having an observatory in your own home!
New to Astronomy / EAA
No fault of OPT, the scope took 4 months to be delivered due to Covid backlogs. Received it last week and have been with out with it every clear night. Using the scope for EAA while at home, and will use it for visual when remote. When the scope slews at the higher speeds it is a bit noisy, but haven't had any complaints from the neighbors yet. :) That might change when it gets warmer and windows are open at night.
Due to smoke from CA fires I haven’t had clear skies to align. I tried to align to Jupiter and couldn’t get it to work. I’m new so learning...
I received the perfect product recommendation when I had been searching for a cellphone attachment for my telescope. Thank you so much!!!
Pretty good looking forward to see if they sale extra lense
