The Most User-Friendly Telescope Ever
Celestron engineers designed the NexStar Evolution based on years of customer feedback. It now includes its own built-in battery! With this long-lasting lithium-iron-phosphate battery, enjoy stargazing marathons for up to 10 hours on a single charge. In addition, use NexStar Evolution’s USB charge port to top off your other electronic devices that need to stay powered on during observation. Your telescope will go into power-saving mode when it senses low battery life to keep power running for as long as possible.
Setting up your NexStar Evolution is quick and simple. The all-metal tripod features a metal accessory tray with indentations for storing and carrying the tripod. During setup, leg etchings will help you adjust your telescope to the perfect height. Manual clutches in both altitude and azimuth offer greater flexibility to manually point the telescope when powered off.
Superior Tracking Fit for Astro-Imaging
If you’re interested in astro-imaging, the 8-inch NexStar Evolution is an excellent and affordable way to get started. It’s the only fork-mounted telescope in its price range that offers brass worm gears, along with improved motors. NexStar Evolution’s tracking accuracy is so impressive, you can capture images of deep-sky objects like the Orion Nebula by simply attaching your DSLR camera. As you progress in the hobby of astro-imaging, you can add our HD Pro Wedge to achieve longer exposures for more detailed astro-images.
All-Star Polar Alignment
Get ready for a night of astroimaging with your mount faster than previously thought possible with All-Star Polar Alignment. This innovative software solves the time-consuming problem of trying to pinpoint the North Celestial Pole.
The new Lithium Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery chemistry has significant advantages over other battery chemistries, great for those Astronomers on the go.
SkyAlign alignment technology makes setting up a computerized telescope simple, fast, and accurate. Just point the telescope at any three bright objects — stars, bright planets, or even the Moon — and your telescope can orient itself with the night sky.
Celestron’s SkyPortal planetarium app is an astronomy suite that redefines how you experience the night sky. Explore the Solar System, thousands of stars, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, asteroids, comets, and satellites. You can even control and automatically align a compatible Celestron telescope from a smartphone or tablet using StarSense and WiFi technology.
Celestron’s patented StarSense Technology makes it easier than ever to locate objects in the night sky, even if you’ve never used a telescope before. Turn it on and push ‘Align.’ In about three minutes, you’re ready to observe!

Nice telescope, worked great the first 6 months, then stopped working. Celestron support was very good, repaired free of charge, no shipping charges. If I could do it over I would go with a dobsonian reflector. Something that is quick and simple. The go to is nice but it can be time consuming to get set up and going.
I received the perfect product recommendation when I had been searching for a cellphone attachment for my telescope. Thank you so much!!!
Pretty good looking forward to see if they sale extra lense
Short version... It's a dream scope. I had high expectations and it has met or exceeded my expectations across the board. I've looked through a c8 before and this one is just as good. No surprise here, which is good. The awesomeness of this set up is all in the mount. The internal battery greatly facilitates set up. Simple things like the built in level, eyepiece holders and red light are a huge plus. Three star alignment was a breeze. I really don't see the need for auto align now that I've done the three star alignment. Scope is nice and steady on the tripod and tracking was spot on all night. Finally and quite significantly, iPad app control is truely amazing. So easy to use and intuitive. Going from one object to another was seamless. The added audio was a nice touch that kept both my 5 year old daughter and otherwise uninterested wife captivated for much long than usual. Is this the ideal quick set up 8" SCT? At this point, I think so. I can't imagine what I'd change to make it better. A real winner of a set up for me. My search for an ideal SCT set up is over. As you can probably tell, I am one happy camper with this purchase.
