Celestron Moon Filter - 1.25"

Celestron's Moon Filter is an economical eyepiece filter for reducing the brightness of the Moon and improving contrast, so greater detail can be observed on the lunar surface. The clear aperture is 21 mm and the transmission is about 18%.

Every experienced lunar observer knows that using a proper lunar filter can be like adding a dimmer and contrast switch to your telescope's eyepiece. See more details - more comfortably! (You just might find yourself using this filter to help display the phases of Venus and crack bright, close double stars!)

Moon filter

loved it! i’m a new telescope owner and was told that a moon filter would be worth it to buy starting out. I was able to see a lot more detail of the moon and in general with this piece. highly recommend

Doesn’t fit all eyepieces

This filter is nice and it provides a good view of the moon. However, it only screws onto the stock Celestron eyepiece that my telescope came with, and none of my other eyepieces.

You get what you pay for

While the optical quality of this filter might be acceptable, the fiter cell is made of a cheap soft plastic. After only a few uses, it has become cross-threaded and is difficult to use in the dark. Due to the large filter cell diameter, it also reduces the aperture, causing some vignetting or restricted FOV on some of my eyepieces. On the positivew side, It is inexpensive. I would not recommend this filter to a friend.
