Celestron f/6.3 Reducer Corrector
Celestron f/6.3 Reducer Corrector
The Celestron focal reducer and field corrector lens accessory works with all Celestron C5, C8, C9.25, C11, and C14 SCT telescopes. This clever accessory makes it possible to have a dual focal ratio instrument, without sacrificing image quality. The Celestron reducer/corrector is f/6.3 for C5, C8, C9.25, and C11 telescopes and f/7 for the C14 telescope. The Celestron 6.3 focal reducer is not compatible with either the Celestron HD and Meade ACF scopes and OTA The Celestron focal reducer and field corrector offers wide fields of view with any Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. Used for astrophotography, it reduces exposure time by a factor of 3. The Celestron focal reducer uses fully multi-coated optics for the best image quality and light transmission.
This combination focal reducer and field corrector lens accessory works with all Celestron 5, 6, 8, 9.25, 11, and 14-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes. This clever accessory makes it possible to have a dual focal ratio instrument, without sacrificing image quality. The Reducer/Corrector is f/6.3 for C5, C6, C8, C9.25, and C11 telescopes and f/7 for the C14 telescope.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERSAsk a Question
Would this work well for a NexStar 8SE for astrophotography with a Canon T5i and an Orion G3 Starshoot Color? An Antares f6.3 focal reducer corrector would be a better choice?
The Celestron f/6.3 reducer is the best choice for both cameras
Hi, can I use this with the Baader click lock clamp on my CPC1100?
You will need an adapter as this reducer will not natively fit. A 2" nosepiece to 2"-24 TPI SCT thread adapter like the JMI JM-ADPT2THREAD adapter or the FLI FL-DT-1 will let this reducer slide into the Click-Lock adapter. On the camera side, you will the
Will this focal reducer work with a full frame camera on a Meade LX200>
Unfortunately, no. Imaging standards were lower back in the film days when this reducer was created - plus film was more forgiving of off-axis coma than digital - so nowadays the f/6.3 reducer is only considered usable over the field of an APS-C format se
What are the 5 eyepieces that are included? Are they Kellners? Plossls? What are their focal lengths?
The five eyepieces that are supplied with this telescope have the following focal lengths: 25mm 20mm 12.5mm 8mm 4mm They are all Huygens eyepieces except for the 4mm which is a Symmetrical Ramsden design.
Will it fit to the back of my CPC 11,my opening is 3.25"
The CPC 11 should come with a reducer that takes it from 3.25" down to 2" 24 TPI threads. It is on that part that the F/6.3 focal reducer fits onto.
Can this focal reducer be used with 2" star diagonals and eyepieces?
Hello Greg, It indeed can. I use my f/6.3 focal reducer on my 8" Celestron SCT & it works nicely for objects that look better with a wider field of view such as the Orion Nebula & the Andromeda Galaxy.
Does this adapter replace the "Visual Back" on the telescope, or does it attach to the Visual Back or the Star Diagonal eyepiece holder on a Celestron 8" SCT?
This attaches to the 2"-24 TPI threaded visual back on the telescope's rear housing. It will not attach to the rear of the 1.25" diagonal holder.
Does this reducer work with Celestron C6?
Yes, although the C6 might exhibit a bit more residual field curvature than the 8", so you will want to only use it with cameras with APS-C or smaller sensors. At proper 105mm spacing to the camera sensor, the scope will be at f/6.3 at a focal length of ~
