Celestron 9.25" EdgeHD f/10 Modified Cassegrain Catadioptric OTA Telescope

The Celestron EdgeHD 234.95 mm (9.25 Inch) Corrected Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope Optical Tube Assembly (OTA) with CGE Mount Plate is here!

Introducing the EdgeHD Telescope Series, Celestron's new flagship telescope line...

Celestron has taken another bold step as the market leader in telescopes with the introduction of our latest series of high-end telescopes. Since the moment Celestron first started producing Schmidt-Cassegrain optical systems, they have continued to design high-quality optics with pride. After years of research and development, Celestron has now taken one giant step!

The EdgeHD is Celestron's latest innovation that will surely be the system of choice for the serious astroimagers. The new Edge High Definition telescope series features an Aplanatic (Corrected) Schmidt optical system that produces pinpoint star images all the way to the edge of the field. Some optical systems currently on the market may produce coma-free images. But there is a difference.... the optical difference. Not only is the Celestron HD coma-free, but it also has a built-in field flattener to ensure sharp focus all the way to the edge of the field, producing true Astrograph quality images. This results in pinpoint, High Definition star images throughout your astrophotographs.

These superior features make the new Celestron EdgeHD series the new gold standard in Astroimaging. The Edge is an aplanatic Schmidt telescope designed to produce aberration-free images across a wide visual and photographic field of view. The optical system was designed to reduce more than just off-axis star coma, but also to give an astrograph quality flat focal plane all the way to the edge of the field of view.

Many optical designs that advertise themselves as "astrograph" quality actually only produce pinpoint stars across a curved focal plane. While this may be acceptable for visual observing, stars will appear out of focus at the edge when used with a flat chip sensor of a digital camera. HD optics produce a focal plane more than three-times flatter than a standard Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and dramatically flatter than other competing coma-free designs. This guarantees you visibly sharp stars across some of the largest CCD chips available today.

Now let's talk about Celestron quality... Superior edge performance not only creates rounder/ more pleasing stars but actually improves the resolution and limiting magnitude when compared to telescopes of equal aperture. When it comes to the Celestron EdgeHD series coupled with Celestron's StarBright XLT coating group on every surface, Edge HD optics gives you maximum light throughput across the widest visual and photographic spectrum... It's a vision you'll never forget.

    Questions & Answers

    Ask a Question
    • Please forgive a novice's question, but is this OTA available with a mounting plate usable with the Orion Atlas EQ-G GEM?  And do you offer a package price for this combination of scope and mount?

Celestron does not sell a version of this optical tube with the narrower Vixen dovetail, so there are two options: purchase an appropriate narrower dovetail (like the ADM VC9.25) or purchase a wider 3" losmandy style saddle from ADM or Orion. Celestron o

    • Please forgive a novice's question, but is this OTA available with a mounting plate usable with the Orion Atlas EQ-G GEM?  And do you offer a package price for this combination of scope and mount?

Orion offers an adapter for the EQ-G to convert the Losmandy plate to a Vixen style plate.

    • I'm new at this   can I mount this scope on a iOptron iEQ45E German Equatorial Mount with Tripod and, if so, what type equipment will I need.

Thank you for your question. This telescope is indeed mountable on the IEQ45 with the plate that it comes with. The plate that the telescope has is a Losmandy D style rail & the saddle that the IEQ45 comes with either accepts the narrower V-style rails &

    • I purchased a 925 EdgeHD from OPT this summer. Can you tell me where the serial number (for insurance recording) is located?

Celestron does not currently have serial numbers for any of their telescopes. They used to put serial numbers on the secondary housing in pre-Fastar SCT telescopes, but they no longer do so with Fastar capable telescopes like the EdgeHD models.

    • Hello, What size is the visual back on the EdgeHD 925? Thanks

The EdgeHD 9.25 comes with both the standard 2" visual back and the larger 3.29" visual back. The back focus is 5.25" from the smaller thread and 5.75" from the larger thread.
