Product Details

  • The Pocket Powerbox Micro from Pegasus Astro is the successor of the Pocket Powerbox. It is perfectly made for those who are looking for a "grab and go" power solution. It can provide up to 10 Amps of power, while also giving you a sufficient number of 12V outputs to plug your gear in. There are also Dew Heater Channels, an adjustable voltage power output, and an environmental sensor that monitors humidity / temperature (dew point). Bring this micro power supply with you on your next adventure to view and image the night sky!

    The Pocket Powerbox Micro provides:

    • 4 x 12V DC Power outlets (ON/OFF via software)
    • 10 Amps of total power
    • Voltage Adjustable Output (Can be switched ON/OFF - 3V, 5V, 8V, 9V, 12V)
    • 2 Channels PWM Dew Heaters - RCA Outputs (Adjust levels via software)
    • Humidity and Temperature Sensor
    • Auto Tune Dew Heaters
    • Reverse Polarity Protection / Overvoltage Protection
    • USB / PC Controlled or Standalone Operation out of the box
    • Lightweight and extremely compact enclosure

With the Pocket Powerbox Micro, you will have the power of 4 x 12V DC power outlets to make sure your gear is all charged up. It has the ability to switch ON/OFF all four ports. The built-in voltmeter measures and displays your input voltage in real time. If your input is more than 14.5V, the power is instantly cut off to protect your precious equipment. You can connect the device to your laptop / PC via USB2 and control the Pocket Powerbox Micro from the supplied software or ASCOM drivers.

The built-in amp-meter is placed after the DC input reports the total electric current. There are also 3 additional amp-meters. One is dedicated to the 12V outputs and the remaining 2 are reserved for the Dew Heater Channels. This gives you the ability to easily monitor the overall power consumption of your equipment in far more detail than most other power supplies.

An adjustable output will allow you to provide power to your DSLR, mirrorless camera, or your RPI3/4. You can even tune the voltage to different levels (3, 5, 8, 9, or 12 Volts)! Please note that Pegasus Astro provides a wide range of battery couplers to accommodate Canon, Nikon, Sony, and FUJI cameras.

The Pocket Powerbox Micro controller has been specially designed to support up to 10 Amps of total current. It is able to work "out of the box" as a standalone device. All you need to do is plug in the cables, set up the "autodew" functionality. After that, every time you turn on the device, it will retrieve your previously saved settings. Therefore, if you don't want to connect a PC every time, you don't have to!

Two pulse width modulation (PWM) outlets have the ability to provide power to your Dew Heaters, preventing moisture from fuzzing your equipment and destroying your clear nights. These outlets can be remote controlled from your laptop using the provided software. The controller can also auto-adjust the heater power levels by consulting the environmental sensor Dew Point reading. Just click "Auto" and let the Pocket Powerbox Micro decide if it is time to turn on and precisely tune the level of your dew heaters.

An expansion port (EXP) is available for device expansion. This RJ12 socket allows for the connectivity of current and future Pegasus Astro products. Plugged devices can be controlled from the Pocket Powerbox Micro standalone software or dedicated ASCOM driver.

The Pocket Powerbox Micro fully supports ASCOM6. Using ASCOM6 along with Pegasus Astro's main program that acts as a server, you can use the latest ASCOM 6.3 supplied drivers to:

    • Pass environmental settings to supported software (Sequence Generator, MaximDL, etc) (ASCOM ObservingConditions)
    • Switch ON or OFF all 12V outputs (ASCOM Switches)

The Pocket Powerbox Micro also fully supports INDI. Bundle it with Stellarmate or any other device that can use INDILib.

LED indicators blink in patterns to warn you regarding important power issues, such as if you are over / under voltage. This light can be turned off using the software if it is too distracting.

Four power cables of DC 2.1 mm to 2.1 mm male (1m) are included in this package.

One external 1m temperature and relative humidity sensor is also included in this package. Temperature, humidity, and dew point measurements will all be displayed in the software.

The Pocket Powerbox Micro features a reverse voltage polarity protection, saving your dark sky night if you accidentally connect the main power supply in reverse polarity! There is also a hardware watchdog that will reset the device if there is no response from the controller for 2 seconds. This feature is especially useful if you have a controller freeze in your remote observatory and need to make sure everything is working as intended.

Size is 66 mm x 66 mm x 24 mm and is crafted of beautiful blue anodized aluminum.
