CMOS finally comparable/better than CCD technology for Astronomy
A game changer, both in price and performance. It has proven that CMOS technology can surpass CCD technology. My first use of CMOS for Science and not disappointed. Does require deeper study so one can most effectively understand proper setup of Offset and Gain depending on your target. More documentation on setup of Offset and Gain would be good for new owners, however. Imagine an image with the field of view of a 16803 (CCD chip) camera, at less than half the price; as well as quieter signal! I’ve now used both for Science! Ron Diiulio, Director (ret.) An absolutely awesome camera
The quality of this camea is very good. Like other ZWO products, its solidly built and has a huge sensor with 62 Mega Pixels. I tried it out on a couple of scopes and the camea performed fine, with 2" adapters, you get the full frame view. This is one of the top-of-the-line cameras from ZWO, and is sure to provide excellent performance, ideal for use in astrophotography or astronomical research.
