ZWO ASI1600MM Cooled Monochrome Camera- 31mm Narrowband Imaging Filter Bundle - DiscontinedThese top of the line, cutting edge new Astronomy Camera's are the latest from ZWO; ideal purchases for any astronomer- ranging from the newest to the oldest! The ZWO 1600 boasts drastic improvements over previous and comparable models, leaving it one of the best choices in its price-range! With an incredibly low level of read roise at 1.2e-, they operate with minimal interference, producing higher quality images reliably by doing so. It also excels in the FPS field- experiencing a maximum rate of 23 Frames Per Second when operating at resolution, which is well above average for astronomy Camera's- one of the most models boasts just 1 FPS! And that's not the only two fields in which this camera and it's stellar new sensor has innovated...
Its resolution is just beautiful- running at 16 megapixels, it nearly doubles the resolution of the cameras nearly twice its cost; blowing its competition utterly out of the water in that area as well. Now, it's true that it only runs at twelve bits per frame- but with the drastically lower than average Noise, this lack of interference allows you to use much more of your potential dynamic range- in effect, allowing higher quality imaging at a lower base bit per frame due to a drastic reduction in noise interference.
All in all, this is a CMOS Sensor using Camera that is highly affordable without any sacrifice in quality- operating at a whole new level compared to other, similar Cameras. Its range of exposure time is insane- ranging from a mere fraction of a second all the way up to just a few minutes over half an hour. What does that mean, exactly? It means that while yes, it can be used for planetary or lunar imaging- it's also fully capable of being utilized for long exposure deep space photography and imaging, as well as just about anything else you'd care to put it to. The technology at play here is leaps and bounds above what's considered standard in CMOS cameras, and it shows; to get the performance of a similar quality elsewhere, you'd have to double the price of this new camera, and in some areas, this camera might still outperform! Usable for a broad range of imaging purposes with great effectiveness, and extremely affordable, you'll find this a solid investment for a beginning in Astro-Photography!
And in this special case, you've got it even better. This 31mm imaging bundle is designed to give you everything you'll need to get started and get imaging with a minimal amount of time gathering parts and worrying about compatibility. Your filter wheel is here- the Miniature Electronic Filter wheel devised by ZWO to be just right for this camera. Your filters are here to slot in- the 31mm LRGB filter set that ZWO designed for this camera and filter wheel, as well as an H-Alpha Filter to add narrowband to your list of options!. It all slots together neatly and cleanly, and leaves you with a ready to go imaging camera, capable of capturing the most breathtaking images possible from anywhere in the world with the simple addition of a Telescope, a mount, and a tripod.
