Poor Design and Prone to Problems

I have used many polar scopes and this one is the most problematic. The magnets holding the scope are too weak and the scope itself has many design problems. My illuminator has broken twice in 5 months. Astrotrac hasn't addressed these problems and doesn't respond to posted issues on this scope in their group site or direct e-mails. Until they fix these problems go with another tracking platform.

Follow-up

Adjusted the scope and have now use a supplemental spring clamp on the barrel. Scope is still easily dislodged, but the clamp keeps it from hitting the ground. Usable system now.

AstroTrac Polar scope

Had trouble first time using this scope. Mounting is not very secure and is easily dislodge with the slightest bump, sending it to the ground. I am looking for information on how to better secure it in the unit. seems like it could have been mounted to take advantage of gravity to prevent it from falling. I will probably attach some type of cable to it to keep it off the concrete.
