Astrozap Baader Film Solar Filter for 130mm Telescopes

Astrozap Baader Solar Filter for 130mm Telescopes

The filter cell that holds the Baader AstroSolar film is constructed from lightweight, 18 gauge aluminum and is powder-coated white. The heavy duty threaded inserts and nylon thumbscrews will insure a secure fit on the front of your telescope's optical tube assembly.

With Baader AstroSolar film, the Sun will appear a neutral white, allowing you to see more detail, especially in the faculae regions, than competing solar films that produce a bluish or reddish image. Due to it's neutral color balance, AstroSolar enables the use of various color (or interference) filters which allows the observer to concentrate on certain spectral passbands for investigations of different layers within the solar "atmosphere".

The Astrozap Baader Solar Filter is essentially free from pinholes, since it is coated on both sides. This means that your chance of two pinholes overlapping each other would be extremely faint. Baader AstroSolar safety film has been approved for eye safety by the National Bureau of Standards in Germany, the PTB. Unlike any other Solar Filter on the market, AstroSolar is CE-tested according to EG-Norm 89/686 and EN 169/92 (notified body 0196). All processes connected to this product have been thoroughly tested. Coatings are inspected constantly for consistency to ensure your eye safety!

Ask a Question
  • Will this filter securely fit on a Nexstar 5SE? The tapered end of the 5SE corrector cell makes me think this filter may have a risk of falling off.

Justin, The AZ-1013 solar filter will fit on the 5SE. I tried it on the telescope we have on the floor and it fits perfectly.

  • Will this solar filter fit my skyprodigy 130

Yes! The SkyProdigy 130 has an outer-diameter of just under 6.5 inches. The Astrozap AZ-1013 is an excellent fit, which I did just measure/verify.

  • Will this glass solar filter fit my skyprodigy 130.

This one's a little too small, but the TH-6500 will fit well, and snugly with the included felt-padding.

  • Does the William Optics GT81 Triplet APO come with a Vixen type saddle to place on my Celestron AVX mount. Thanks, De Lorme

The GT81 includes an integrated mounting "foot", which is both shaped like a Vixen-style dovetail and has a couple 1/4-20 threaded holes. So right out of the box this telescope can be attached to an AVX or similar mount. At the same time, if long/heavy

  • Does the William Optics GT81 Triplet APO come with a Vixen type saddle to place on my Celestron AVX mount. Thanks, De Lorme

Yes, but it is a short one. The dovetail foot on the bottom of the scope is angled to function as a short Vixen dovetail, but you may want to screw a longer dovetail to the bottom if you are using heavy cameras or eyepieces in order to give you more bala

  • Will this solar filter fit on my old Meade DS-2130? If not what would be a better option?

It is possible that this filter will fit your scope. Since you scope is discounted, we would need for you to measure the outside diameter of the optical tube to verify if the filter will fit over the front of the telescope. Once you have the measurement,
