I've been doing astrophotography since the days of the SBIG STV, the world's first auto guider without the need to use a computer (I still use one). While the STV took care of guiding, there were still a hundred things that I needed to do to my scope and camera get a descent photo. Enter its spiritual successor. With the Air, everything is easy, almost too easy. I use it to control my ZWO 533 on an AP Traveler on a Mach1 mount in my backyard observatory. It powers my cameras, polar aligns the mount, plate solves and centers any object I choose within minutes, autoguides and then shoots/dithers as many frames as I want. I can spend my time connecting with the starts by doing visual observing through my Obsession 18 while the system just... works by itself. Last night, the system took 15 flawless 5 min subs of the Leo trio. Now I just need ZWO to invent a device that automatically post processes these gorgeous images. The Air is going to allow ZWO to corner the astrophotography market. It just takes all the difficulties out of taking the images. Now the hard part is post processing. ZWO, if you are reading this, invent the ZWO Processor. Then my astro life will be complete. Sandy

simple and easy transaction OPT a pleasure to deal with. goods arrived well packaged and even with Covid delays didn't have to wait too long. All in all a very happy Australian customer. Thanks OPT

Since I haven’t been able to use this yet, this is more a review on shipping. It arrived super fast. Cute little unit, hoping it will work with my mount ( when it arrives and ships? Someday?) In the mean time, I’ve backed up the unit and created an additional backup on a micro sd card. Simple and easy to do.

Fantastic device that is high quality. I've had three sessions with it with great success. The polar align feature is a breeze and dead on. I've been getting great tracking and able to shoot 5 minutes subs with zero throw aways. Only thing I had to really figure out was how to work it with my EQ6R mount. Once I got the EQMOD cable and bypassed the hand controller it worked fantastic. Also make sure you shoot in autorun and it will save your individual darks, lights, flats and bias. If you shoot while stacking it saves only individual lights with master flats and bias which you can't use in DSS.

Very easy to set up start using, will connect to my Canon T7i or my ZWO ASI cameras. Works well with my Orion Az/EQ 6-G Pro mount and slews to on app targets. Also parks to home position. Two problems : it doesn’t connect to my SkySafari Pro app and sometimes looses its connection to my wifi temporarily. I would highly recommend it to beginners or if you want a quick, light setup. Thank You OPT!!!

-you can't power your mount from the ASIair pro. The four power jacks provide only 2 amps each, and my mount takes 3.5 amps. I tried. It doesn't work. You could power cameras, dew heaters, etc if they take 12 VDC, but not the mount -It takes time to learn to use the app -Either the app or the device sometimes changes my longitude to an impossible location, E 247 degrees. Now you can't go farther east than 180 degrees, so I have no idea what its up to, but it does it and I'm not sure how to fix it. All that said, it's an awesome device that makes astrophotography much less of a chore and more fun.
