ZWO ASI 174 Camera
The ZWO ASI 174 is one of the most versatile cameras on the market. If you are looking for new Autoguider, are interested in deep space astrophotography, or Lunar/Planetary/solar Imaging, this camera will be able to fulfill any need.
The ZWO ASI 174 is powered by the Sony IMX174 CMOS Sensor which is known for its exceptional light gathering efficiency, low read noise, and larger pixels. The peak quantum efficiency of this CMOS detector is impressively at 77% has a dynamic range of 7 to 12.25 stops depending on gain settings. This makes any Model of the ASI 174 and excellent autoguider.
If you are looking only for an autoguider we recommend the Mini version of this camera. It can fit into any 1.25” barrel, connect via 1.25” thread or C mount threads. This model has only the essentials functions for autoguiding to keeping the cost down.
As a deep space camera, the ASI 174 cooled versions can reach temperatures 35 degrees Centigrade below the ambient temperature bringing down noise levels to a minimum. You can take pictures up to 16 minutes with this camera, but a read noise of 3.5 to 6 electrons (depending on gain settings), Long exposures often not often necessary. When shooting deep space images this camera pairs very well with telescopes 400mm to 1,600mm in focal length.
The ASI 174 is a phenomenal planetary imager. When shooting the USB 3.0 or cooled version a full resolution this camera can record up to 164 frames per second. At the camera's fastest frame rate it can record up to 740 frames per second at a 320x240 resolution. For planetary imaging, this camera will work ideally a telescope setups that has a focal ratio around f/30.
