Well made, but a bit undersized

This is the second ***** 2654 shoe I've purchased in the last couple of years. In both cases, I've found that this particular brand will not accept the mounting foot of all similarly sized accessories. Some fit, and some bind to the degree it's impossible to seat the accessory foot completely. For the first ***** shoe, I filed out the inner surfaces and repainted the shoe so it could be used. I was hoping that sample was just a fluke, but the second was similar in fit to the first. A shame as the ***** 2654 has a nicely made, flat-tipped set M6 screw (most others are M4) that should do less cosmetic damage to accessories. The other negative for this shoe is the very best prices for it have doubled in the last couple of years when and if it can be found. My original was $9.95, and those off-shore suppliers who have the shoe are charging upwards of $50. Often, they want more for shipping that the shoe itself. Except for these warts, the quality of the ***** 2654 could make it the Holy Grail for this type of shoe.
