    Vixen SX Dovetail Tube Plate

    The Vixen SX Dovetail Tube Plate slips onto Vixen GP-type mounts and allows attachment of a telescope via tube rings with 1/4"-20 threaded holes. Other devices may be attached to this dovetail plate as well, including cameras.

    • I'm curious about the design here. Are these compatible with the iOptron SmartEQ mount?

      Yes, this plate will work with the SmartEQ mount, but due to the slope of the plate with the notch for the screw, this plate can only mount in an exactly centered position, meaning that the scope or camera will need to be shifted forward or back to balanc

    • I'm looking to pair the Lunt 50mm solar scope to the iOptron SmartEQ mount. Will this mounting plate work?

      Unfortunately, no, as the hole pattern on the plate does not match up to the hole pattern on the Lunt 50 Clamshell. Lunt makes V-series dovetails in 4" and 6" lengths that will work for this scope.

    • Because the two holes in the middle are 35mm apart I believe a Takahashi clamshell could be mounted on this. Because the holes are smooth pass through, how could a Talk clamshell be mounted?

      if the holes are 35mm apart, you could mount a Takahashi clamshell, but because you would need smaller 6mm or 1/4-20 screws rather than the 8mm screws usually used for Tak clamshells, you would need screws short enough to not scratch the tube when coming
