Yes, in the description of this telescope the word "Splendid" is used quite often. But in my search for a grab and go telescope that can be used on an ALT AZ mount for conjunctions and the like, I thought I would give this little ***** a try. Honestly I could not be more pleased, the quality is unsurpassed from start to finish. The optics are very sharp the 2 inch focuser is very smooth. I have done astrophotography for more than 30 years with all kinds of telescopes usually refractors and this little guy is becoming a favorite! This scope is a great value for the price! Handy as can be! Some sort of finder scope might be a nice addition, but for what I use it for not a necessity. One thing I like to tell beginners is to avoid equipment that is too big and heavy, it will do you no good if it stays in the closet because it is just too much trouble to take out on clear nights. Also mobility has been one of my strengths, putting a camera In the right place at the right time with some fine optics is a wonderful thing! A quick set up on the side of a county road is a breeze with this scope! Think conjunctions! Well, that being said all I can say, is SPLENDID!
