Vixen 8" VMC200L Modified Cassegrain w/ Sphinx SX2 Mount & HAL130 Tripod
A unique catadioptric optical system, the Vixen VMC200L includes a primary as well as a meniscus corrector right in front of a secondary mirror. This enables light to be corrected twice on the optical path for corrected spherical aberration and field curvature that achieves high quality optical efficiency. The focal ratio for the primary mirror is f/2.5 while the compound optical system is f/9.75. This allows for much more convenient portability than similar competing telescopes. By having the optical corrector before the secondary mirror, the VMC200L bypasses the obligatory corrector plate along with all the dewing issues relating to closed optical tubes.
Another critical feature is the rack and pinion focuser placed behind the primary mirror. This focusing system removes the image shift common with other SCT sytems. This becomes particulary crucial when utilizing high power magnifications for astro-imaging. The image is steady and easy to modify while focusing.
Introducing the new Vixen Sphinx SX2 Equatorial Mount, the latest in a long line of acclaimed Sphinx Mounts. In spite of its high precision mechanics, using the SX2 mount is not complicated. Includes the new Star Book One hand controller that will allow you to track celestial objects with little effort.
