Used ATIK 414EX Color CCD Camera - UT-11560 - SOLDThe Atik 414EX is a worthy successor to the 314L+, one of the best cameras for astrophotography in the industry. Includes the new ICX825 sensor, the much anticipated replacement for the highly esteemed ICX285. The same EXview HAD CCD II employed on the 428EX, 460EX, and 490EX is also used on the 414EX. This coupled with a larger pixel size gives this camera greater sensitivity than anything that could previously be acquired in this price range.
In comparison with the 314L+ at 650nm, the 414EX is 60% more sensitive. Actually, the 414EX has greater sensitivity than the already impressive 460EX, making this the ideal camera for the imaging aficionado with budget constraints.
However, the 414EX's sensitivity isn't its only outstanding feature. Its cooler is regulated, allowing your image calibration to remain consistent, and has the ability to comfortably achieve -30 degrees C below ambient. With regards to calibration, for the majority of applications, the camera has a dark noise so low that dark frames become an option instead of a requirement, allowing you to spend more time on imaging.
The Atik 414EX's compact size makes it usable with Fastar/ Hyperstar configurations with absolutely no obstruction even on the 6 inch model. Stress on the corrector plate is kept a minimum due to the light weight of the camera.

Hello, This is strictly a "D" style saddle plate. Thanks for asking as it helps clarify!
I am just starting at astrophotography and I will be using this with a 127 mm TS refractor, Celestron auto guider on a CGEM mount. Does this camera and software work like the Atik infinity software and camera in that this takes high resolution video then
Hello, Thank you for asking this question. The 414EX will not have the same download rate as the Infinity, meaning it will not be able to continually stack the frames to reduce noise in the image. However it does have unlimited exposure times, so it wi
Atik 414ex.--one thing , my budget would be stretched by buying the color model let alone the mono with the filters and filter wheel . Is there much difference between my Canon T3i dslr and the color 414ex for I see it has the bayer matrix on the sensor.
There is a big difference in sensitivity and noise. The Atik 414EX has ~77% QE and your Canon DSLR has ~30-35% QE. Also, the Atik has 6.45 micron pixels vs. 4.3 micron. This leads to a sensitivity difference of ~5x even before the lower read noise, hig
