TPO 12mm Plossl Eyepiece - 1.25" - - ON HOLD - -

The four element Plossl design is perhaps the most popular telescope eyepiece design on today's market and an all-around performer. The Third Planet Optics Plossl provides excellent image quality, good eye relief and an apparent field of view of about 52 degrees. This well manufactured Plossl will deliver high contrast and pinpoint sharpness out to the edge of the field of view.

These Plossl eyepieces are a great value for the amateur astronomer. We get them directly from the manufacturer to save you money. Each 4-element eyepiece is fully multi-coated for maximum contrast and has blackened lens edges to minimize internal reflections and the barrels are threaded to accept 1.25 inch filters.

The TPO 12mm Plossl Eyepiece works across all focal lengths and offers great background darkening capabilities for studying planetary nebulae, small galaxies, planetary details and lunar details.

Great quality for the price.

This eyepiece compares very favorably to similar oculars at more than twice the price. My only gripe is the small eye relief, but this is due to the nature of the design. I use this eyepiece often on planets when mediocre to bad seeing doesn't allow me to use my 5mm ocular. In do not notice any ghosting or other optical defects when viewing Jupiter or the Moon; it delivers a very crisp, flat image across the field of view. The build quality is also very good. I highly recommend this as part of a starter set of eyepieces, it is an excellent all around value.
