Product Details

  • This Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Astro Package consists of the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Multi-Function Mount, a polar scope with an illuminator, and a Sky-Watcher Declination Bracket. This combination can be used for astronomy, astrophotography, and time-lapse photography. You can attach the Star Adventurer to your photographic tripod and head, or an astronomical scope tripod and mount. Tripod and head are not included with this product.

Experience More Possibilities with the Sky-Watcher Star Adventure Multi-Function Mount

    • The Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Astro Package is built around the Star Adventurer mount, which is a high precision, portable, and stable celestial tracking platform for sidereal, solar, and lunar tracking.
    • It's designed to work with your DSLR camera and includes preprogrammed parameters that will help you create beautiful images and videos.
    • The Star Adventurer Multi-Function Mount also has an automatic DSLR shutter release control built-in.
    • The included Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Dec Bracket lets you attach a camera or small telescope, which can then be pointed to different Declination angles as you wish.
    • The Dec bracket includes a motion control knob and a Dec axis locking knob. With the Dec Bracket installed, the Star Adventurer becomes a functional equatorial mount, including Dec angle adjustments operating with manual control.

    Versatile Mechanics

This Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Astro Package can be installed on a photo tripod or other mount which has an adjustable head. If you are going to align the Star Adventurer Astro Package to the celestial pole, be sure that your photo head can tilt back far enough so that you can see the celestial pole with the included Polar Scope at your particular latitude.

It is possible to do a rough polar alignment of this mount using the Dec Bracket and a regular adjustable photo head or ball head. However, if you wish to do a precision polar alignment, an equatorial wedge is required. If you do not have a wedge, Sky-Watcher makes the Star Adventurer Latitude Equatorial Base (SW-S20530) for just such a purpose. For payloads over 6lbs, we recommend getting the Star Adventurer Counterweight Kit (SW-S20540) for more precise tracking.

Nice light weight tracker

I really like this product! It's very light weight and can easily be taken anywhere in a backpack or luggage. I have found the tracking to be exceptional for the small light weight scopes. I was able to track for over 2 hours, with NO loss of polar alignment. Of course, this is because I was careful with my initial alignment. I used the Evostar 72 and William Optics z61 on this tracker and found they both are of acceptable weight, so long as you balance correctly. I'm attaching stacked and processed images taken with the z61 using this tracker. I did upgrade to the William Optics latitude eq base (because the SW base is not so good in my experience). Anyway, I recommend this tracker if you're looking for a light weight portable tracking device that will fit in a back back or just want something light and easy to use.

Color you get is random

I like this unit. Lightweight, but I haven’t tried imaging with it. You roll the dice on the color you get. I wanted the black but received the Blackened white unit. Another accessory for attaching the counter weight is green. Now the equatorial base is white after being told specifically by OPT it was black. If the dealers have no control over the inventory they receive from Sky Watcher then that’s fine. But the order form should disclose that specific color requests cannot be honored.

Finally a gem I can travel with for wide field shot in super dark skies.

I bought his mount to do wide field astro imaging in the field with a DSLR. It's ultra portable and runs off common aa batteries. With the 11 pound payload it provides the most bang for the buck of anything I have seen out there. I've tested it with quick polar alignment on a light weight travel tripod with a 70-200 2.8G nikon lens with a 1.7 telecovertor on it, I was able to get up to almost a 5 min sub before I saw star trailing. 6 min subs with a 20mm 1.8 were no problem at all, I'm sure I could push ever further unguided at that focal length. 50mm and below this mount is fantastic Easy to carry, easy to set up. Only thing I not wild about is the polar alignment scopes illumination. A build in system would be fantastic vs a small inseparable device.

Clutch is awful

Skywatcher star adventurer or as I like to call hardly use this product because the clutch keeps locking in place. Skywatcher seems like the company that pays little attention to details. This problem has happened ever since I received this product making it unusable. OPT shipping was excellent, just be hesitant in buying this product and the constant problems that come with it
