Sky Watcher Star Adventurer 2i Pro Pack
The Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer 2i Pro Pack is built around the Star Adventurer 2i mount. The Star Adventurer mount is a high precision, portable, and stable celestial tracking platform for sidereal, solar, and lunar tracking. It is designed to work with your DSLR camera and includes pre-programmed parameters that will help you create beautiful images and videos. The Star Adventurer Multi-Function Mount also has an automatic DSLR shutter release control built-in.
Sky-Watcher simplifies the astrophotography process by making the Star Adventurer 2i a complete equatorial mount package that tracks the night sky smoothly. Just align your system and activate the tracking, then you're good to go!
THE SKY-WATCHER STAR ADVENTURER 2i PRO PACK FEATURES
The included Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Dec Bracket lets you attach a camera or small telescope, which can then be pointed to different Declination angles as you wish. The Dec bracket includes a motion control knob and a Dec axis locking knob. With the Dec Bracket installed, the Star Adventurer 2i becomes a functional equatorial mount, including Dec angle adjustments operating with manual control.
The Counterweight Kit is an accessory for the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer 2i Mount. The stainless steel counterweight shaft attaches to the Star Adventurer Dec Bracket very easily, and it is used to counter-balance a heavy payload.
The Latitude Equatorial Base provides the ability to adjust the latitude and azimuth of the system for correct polar alignment. This Latitude Equatorial Base by Sky-Watcher adjusts from 0-degree latitude to 70-degree latitude. By turning the Horizontal Adjustment knob, you can make adjustments to the azimuth position. There is an included bubble level to assist in leveling the base.
This Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer 2i Astro Package can be installed on a photo tripod or other mount which has an adjustable head. If you are going to align the Star Adventurer Astro Package to the celestial pole, be sure that your photo head can tilt back far enough so that you can see the celestial pole with the included Polar Scope at your particular latitude.

I weighed out a lot of options and did some research. I went with this Wonderful rig since I’m getting the night cat from oof and it’s also perfect do DSLR imaging. It can go anywhere and it’s compact and light to boot. Would recommend for a beginner.
The tracker is well made and functions as advertised. Having down-sized from a heavy duty GEM and C8 I find the tracker to be very portable and capable of capturing subs between 60 to 90 seconds. I would not hesitate to recommend the tracker. However, the instruction sheett/manual could contain more detail information on some of the features. The packeage arrive promptly from OPT, as usual.
if you are a beginner at Astrophotography and trying to use a dslr you should buy three things. this star tracker. the ball head. the Radian tripod. i followed the suggestions from the youtube video by Trevor at Astrobackyard and im very happy that i did. his video provides better "how to" and "why" than i can here. please watch the video and look for the links to the part needed hidden under the "more" tab below the video. trevors video explains how to use the star tracker better than a manual could. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKYxVWxUkGY&t=47s im still learning more about the hobby every day from friends at twitter and youtube. see you there. https://twitter.com/TommyHerr7
I've only had one opportunity to use the Star Adventurer Pro Pack so far but I can already tell I am going to love it. Alignment was easy, the included mount options give me flexibility in how I kit it out (with or without a small scope) and the whole thing is light enough to carry in my backpack. While my first set of test images were generally useless due to a bright moon, I could clearly see pinpoint stars in the distance on 2 minute exposures. This gives me great hope that I will be able to capture some really nice images on dark nights.
I’m still learning the ropes with this mount. So far it has performed well, and I’ve only scratched the surface. One short-coming is the need for more counter balance for the advertised weight capacity to be met effectively. I’ve ordered an additional counter balance kit ($45.00 delivered). I’m going to try and modify that so I have a short rod extension, with no additional counter weight required. I’ll have to keep an eye on clearance issues and the like.
My 17 year old son loves this setup! This company was so quick and efficient on our order, it took no time to receive it. Thank you for the promptness and the zero shipping cost!
