"Reducer" for Lhires III spectrometer
The grating that comes with the Lhires III spectrometer is quite strong. If I want to collect data for a dim object, the number of frames becomes so numerous (~20 frames @ 15nm per frame) that the time for each frame prohibits collecting the entire spectra in one setting. Therefore a weaker grating is required to enable one frame to capture the entire spectra. If something unusual is found in the single frame, I can return to the original grating and "zoom-in" to investigate.
