With the Radian 61 Visual Back Eyepiece Adapter, you can use eyepieces and other accessories while taking advantage of your Radian 61's premium optical performance.
Fantastic Widefield Views
The Radian 61 has already proven that it excels as an astrophotography telescope, but it's also a fantastic visual performer as well. The Radian 61 features an integrated reducer/corrector in the design to correct for large sensors when imaging. For visual use, however, the reducer/corrector unscrews and is replaced with this Eyepiece Adapter to allow for the Radian 61 to be used at its native focal length of 335mm. This eyepiece adapter (also known as a visual back) transforms the Radian 61 into an f/5.5 system, making it an excellent choice for widefield views of the night sky with your favorite eyepieces.
At this slightly longer focal length of 335mm, the Radian 61 becomes an excellent portable telescope for visual observation. By removing the reducer/corrector, it actually shortens the overall length of the telescope considerably and lowers the weight for even more portability. The Eyepiece Adapter features a 2" port as well as a 2" to 1.25" adapter, which means you can use any of your favorite 2" or 1.25" eyepieces and accessories on the Radian 61.
Multiple Adapters & Alternative Uses
If you'd like to use the Radian 61 as a guide scope for autoguiding or other imaging purposes, you can do so but it will require an extension tube to reach focus. This TPO 80mm Extension Tube provides the perfect length to insert a planetary or guide camera. Simply insert the extension tube into the 2" eyepiece adapter port, and then insert the included 2" to 1.25" adapter into the end of the extension tube. Lastly, insert your 1.25" guide camera into the end, and you can use the Radian 61 for autoguiding or full disc lunar imaging with a planetary camera.
Quality Machining & Compression Rings
Both the 2" and 1.25" sized ports feature a compression ring system for an evenly-distributed grip on your eyepieces and other accessories, which prevents tilt and flexure. The compression rings also ensure your eyepieces' barrels won't get scratched or damaged, unlike a set screw pressed up against the barrel.
Convenient Knurled Knobs
No need to take your gloves off during observing sessions on colder nights. The three set screws included on the 2" eyepiece adapter and the single set screw on the 1.25" adapter feature a knurled grip design. This lets you swap out eyepieces with ease, even when your fingers are being kept warm by a pair of gloves.
