QHY offers a fully cooled CMOS camera with a built-in motorized filter wheel in an affordable package. The QHY miniCAM5F features a dual stage thermoelectric cooling system that effectively cools the camera to Neg.38-degrees C below ambient. With a highly sensitive 1.2 megapixel sensor capable of 74-percent QE and able to capture 30 frames per second at a full resolution of 1280 x 960 and up to 200 frames per second at 320 x 240 pixels. Readout noise is also excellently low at 2 electrons. The 9 position filter wheel is built to hold the included L, R, G, B, and CH4 and Black filter on the same filter wheel disk. The specialized black filter is for taking and subtracting your dark frames. A minified version of a typical cooled CCD camera, these included filters are a miniaturized 12 mm size (when compared to more typical 1.25-inch or 50 mm filters). They fit perfectly into the filter wheel and help keep the entire system weight low, self-contained and very budget friendly.
The QHY miniCAM5F has a peak QE of 74-percent and it is especially well suited for capturing smaller night sky objects like the planets, smaller (or more distant) galaxies and globular clusters. When paired with a fast or shorter focal length telescope it is also suitable for largely diffused nebulae. Additional features include an onboard heater to keep dew from forming on your CMOS window and desiccant is included to help keep your system dry.
Weighing in at about 13 ounces for the total system, the QHY miniCAM lives up to its name! Create a super portable, mini imaging system with this tiny powerhouse camera. Happily paired with a small refractor and light-duty EQ mount you could be capturing incredible layered images without being weighed down.
