QHY 5L-II Monochrome CMOS Telescope Camera

The QHY 5L-II monochrome (blue) camera uses the one-third inch, 1.2 MP Aptina MT9M034 CMOS sensor. The 1280 x 960-pixel array of 3.75 um pixels are capable of video speeds of 30 frames per second at full resolution! The QHY 5L series camera has a c-mount interface for flexibility - choose from a variety of optional lenses. Capture mesmerizing planetary, solar or deep-sky imaging!

As a member of the QHY5-II series, the QHY5L-II design retains the 1.25-inch (eyepiece size) form factor and the standard ST-4 Opto-isolated guide port. The high QE of 74% plus the high-speed USB2 port enables very fast frame rates, making this an ideal planetary camera. The camera uses a single USB port for camera control and power to provide simplicity and ease of use. The USB communication port has been updated to take advantage of the full download speed and to eliminate noise that had been caused by the USB port in the past. This camera is an extraordinary device for both autoguiding and planetary photography, all at a very attractive price point. The QHY5L-IIM camera comes with a parfocal adjustment ring, 1.25-inch extension tube/filter holder, and a USB and guide cable.

Nice little contraption

Using this for as my first auto guider. So far things are working just as expected. Very happy with the light weight and easy functionality. I am using this on an Astroberry through Ekos.

A reliable workhorse, and probably all the autoguider you'll ever need

I purchased this camera for autoguiding with both a 50mm and 30mm guidescope. Both of these setups can easily guide my 5" apo for 15 minute subs accurately. For just $169, this is probably one of the best options for autoguiding to spend your dollars on. The sensitivity of this camera is more than sufficient to pick out stars from anywhere you point in the sky, and the relatively small pixels also allows you to guide accurately using shorter FL guidescopes.
