TPO 1.25" Web Camera Nosepiece
Webcam photography... You've heard about it - but how is it done? Actually, it's fairly simple if you have the right tools.
While holding a webcam to the eyepiece of your telescope will work, unless you have eight arms or someone to help, it's not going to be easy to run your capture program, adjust the telescope's focus, or even track. What you need is a way to keep the webcam in place and we have the solution... the TPO 1.25" Webcam Adapter.
Designed to work with Logitech QuickCam B/W, QuickCam Express, QuickCam VC, QuickCamPro, QuickCam Pro 3000, and 3 Com Home Connect webcams, as well as others with the proper 12mm threads, the TPO Webcam Adapter simply screws onto the camera where your webcam's lens screws in.
Start by removing the lens from the camera, this exposes the internal CCD chip. Next up, screw the Nosepiece onto the camera where the lens was. Now place the adapter and webcam into the focuser, turn it on, and focus while looking at the image on your laptop screen. Now, chose your program on your laptop, adjust your settings and begin capturing. Your webcam is ready for prime focus astrophotography!
It's just that easy.
While results will vary depending on the lux sensitivity of your webcam model, even the most modest of webcams can and will deliver some very amazing results. Give it a try!

Questions & AnswersAsk a Question
Will this work with a Logitech C920? I'm planning on getting one...
This nosepiece will work on any webcam that uses M12-28T threads when the lens is removed. The Philips ToUcam and some later models used this thread, but we cannot say for sure which later models by other manufacturers use this thread standard.
Does this nosepiece have inside threads for adding filters?
Hello DJohns, It indeed does so you can use 1.25" moon filters or planetary filters.
I have a canon lens that requires a filter size of 95mm. Will these threads work for a large camera lens?
The Thousand Oaks filters do not have threads on them. Instead, they are designed to slip over the telescope or lens. You would need to know the actual physical diameter of the lens - not the thread size - to decide which solar filter is appropriate.
will this adapter work with the Microsoft LifeCam Studio 1080p HD Webcam?
It does not appear that the LifeCam Studio 1080p has the correct 12mm-28 threads to use this nosepiece.
Does this adapter have baffles?
Hello Robert, Thank you for your question. This nosepiece indeed has baffles.
