Orion's SynScan V5 GoTo Hand Controller
is equipped with an extensive database of over 10,000 deep-sky objects to explore. It comes with a connecting cable that makes the hand controller compatible with Orion StarSeeker IV GoTo Mount and telescopes, Orion SkyQuest GoTo Dobsonians, and the Orion StarBlast AutoTracker mount.
Once attached to a compatible telescope (and after an initial star alignment or collimation), the SynScan V5 GoTo Hand Controller will precisely point the telescope to any object selected from its extensive database. On any clear and starry night, the GoTo hand controller will let you easily pinpoint galaxies, star clusters, nebulas, double stars, variable stars, planets, and more!
This hand controller has a USB port for controlling compatible telescopes from a computer, or for updating firmware when updated versions are released. It also has an RS-232 serial port, just like the V4 version. The SynScan V5 has the following languages added in compared to the V4: Chinese (simplified), Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian, Dutch, Russian, and others.
The backlit, two-line LCD screen and illuminated keypad on the SynScan V5 gives you the ability to easily access the intuitive object menus and mount controls. The "Tour" feature is worth bragging about, since it serves up a selection of the best celestial objects visible right where you are, so you and your family/friends can observe and enjoy.
Notes from Orion:
- The SynScan V5 GoTo hand controller is the same as version but that one includes cables make it compatible with other orion mounts and telescopes such atlas eq-g sirius hdx110 among others.>
- The SynScan V5 does NOT include a USB or RS-232 serial cable. You can purchase these separately from stores that carry electronic goods. The USB cable you will most likely need is a USB-A (male) to USB-B (male), which is the type usually used for printers. The USB port on the SynScan hand controller is a B-type port. Computers usually have A-type ports.
