With locations and names of over 260 features on the Moon such as craters, mountains, valleys, "seas" and more, the included Orion MoonMap 260 is a great tool for beginning astronomers. This detailed map will even show you where various spacecraft have landed on the Moon's surface! The whole family will enjoy looking at the Moon with the SpaceProbe II 76 mm reflector telescope, then discovering the names of the craters and other features you've seen in the telescope.
Use the included Orion E-Series Moon Filter to enhance your viewing enjoyment of the Moon. The Orion E-Series 1.25" 13% Transmission Moon Filter reduces glare and boosts contrast so you can see enjoy more detailed views of lunar surface features. It blocks excessively bright glare to provide a more comfortable view of the Moon's surface, the neutral density filter will not alter the natural color of the Moon and the eyepiece filter transmits only 13% of the incoming light, improving contrast and detail.
The Orion Star Target planisphere is a useful star chart wheel for any day of the year. This circular star map lets you dial-in the month and day you're observing the sky, so you can see exactly which constellations and stars will be visible if skies are clear. Using the Orion Star Target is a great way for starters to plan their first stargazing sessions with the SpaceProbe II 76 mm reflector, since you'll know just where to point the telescope!
The included Orion EZ Finder II red-dot sight makes aiming the telescope nice and easy. Following a simple alignment procedure, you can use the EZ Finder II sight to accurately aim the StarBlast 4.5 Astro Reflector Telescope at objects in the sky like the Moon and bright planets. Once aligned with the telescope, just turn on the EZ Finder II and peer through the sight's small circular viewing window so you see the red dot, and move the telescope until the red dot is on the object you want to see. Look in the telescope eyepiece, and the object will be there!
Start stargazing with the 17 mm Explorer II eyepiece for medium-power views. The included 17 mm Orion Explorer II eyepiece provides a 26-power view in the StarBlast 4.5 Reflector telescope. The 17 mm Explorer II is a great eyepiece to use first when you use the telescope each night, since it provides a larger, less magnified window of night sky for you to view. This lower magnification makes it easy to find interesting objects in the night sky.
Increase magnification for more powerful views with the 6 mm Explorer II eyepiece. After you've scanned the skies with the 17 mm Explorer II in the StarBlast 4.5, take a much closer look at interesting objects by swapping out the 17 mm ocular with 6 mm Explorer II eyepiece to boost magnification from 26x all the way up to 75x. The more powerful view in the 6 mm focal length eyepiece makes it easier to see details such as craters and mountains on the Moon, as well as details of bright planets like the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn.
Dial-in celestial details with the smooth adjusting 1.25" rack-and-pinion focuser. The Orion StarBlast 4.5 Astro Reflector telescope features a PTFE-lined rack-and-pinion 1.25" focuser built to accept any 1.25"-sized Orion eyepiece or accessory. The smooth focus control makes it easy to dial-in fine details when observing objects in the night sky, whether you're looking at a rocky lunar crater or a wispy nebula. The focuser features two knurled thumbscrews to secure inserted 1.25" eyepieces and accessories in-place.
