Orion Solar StarSeeker Tracking Altazimuth Mount
The Orion Solar StarSeeker Tracking Altazimuth Mount will help you keep the Sun in your sights with the push of a button! This Solar StarSeeker mount makes Sun-gazing easier than ever before by automatically locating, centering, and tracking the Sun's disk as it appears to travel across the sky.
This is a must-have for sunspot fans and eclipse-chasers, the GPS-equipped Orion Solar StarSeeker Mount features a built-in camera which works in tandem with the GPS system. Together they will find and center the Sun's disk without requiring any tedious alignment setup or data entry. Just press the power button and the Solar StarSeeker does the rest! Once the mount locates the Sun, it automatically begins tracking its apparent motion across the sky. Now you can enjoy the view through an attached solar-filter-equipped telescope while the mount does the tracking for you.
A vertical, narrow Vixen-style dovetail cradle makes it easy to attach dedicated solar telescopes, h-alpha telescopes, or small solar filter-equipped telescopes weighing up to 7 pounds (all telescopes sold separately).
Orion has included a handy joystick button on the Solar StarSeeker can be used if an attached instrument isn't squarely aligned in its mounting. It will override the mount's automated aiming system to compensate for any small telescope or dovetail plate misalignments.
The attached robust cylindrical-leg metal tripod supports the Solar StarSeeker mount. It can be adjusted to hold attached telescopes as low as 37.5-inches to a max height of 57-inches. This tripod minimizes vibrations for a steady and smooth Sun-gazing performance. A useful accessory tray enhances the tripod’s rigidity and provides a convenient storage spot for idle eyepieces. The Orion Solar StarSeeker Tracking Altazimuth Mount is powered by 8 AA batteries (sold separately), and thanks to its light weight of just 8.6 pounds, you will have the ability to enjoy viewing the sun wherever sunny skies are found.
CAUTION: The Orion Solar StarSeeker Mount is designed to automatically locate, center, and track the Sun. Before using or turning on the Solar StarSeeker Mount with any telescope or optical instrument make sure that it does have a professionally made solar filter securely installed. Never look at the Sun, either directly or through a telescope, without a professionally made protective solar filter installed that completely covers the front of the instrument, or permanent eye damage could result.

I love it, but...
I love how the scope helps me in tracking the Sun. In all aspects the Star Seeker performs fabulously, but here's the but - the battery compartment is not well designed. There isn't enough room for the batteries and wires to fit inside that compartment. It took me 45 minutes trying to figure out how to fit everything back into that little space once I loaded the batteries in, I dread having to replace the batteries.
Orion Solar Starseeker
This mount is fantastic, especially at this price point. it does what it suppose to do... It is very accurate I am very pleased with my purchase..
Orion Solar StarSeeker Tracking ALT/AZ Mount
Amazingly easy to set up and operate. It took less than 30 seconds for the GPS receiver to find time and location. Then, it took 3 seconds for the mount to find the sun. After fine tuning the position in the eyepiece using the 4 slew keys, the mount tracked the sun perfectly for 2 hours! Outstanding tracking for the price of the mount.
