  First and foremost, this Triplet Apochromatic Refractor makes a break from tradition for the better; whereas most ED triplets use just a single element of glass, this new model sports the innovative choice of design to feature one element of FPL-53 ED Glass and one element of FPL-51 ED Glass. What does this mean for you, the consumer? With its two fluoro-crown ED glass elements and fully multi-coated optics, the Orion EON 85mm ED-X2 refractor provides superior correction of chromatic and spherical aberrations. By suppressing these aberrations so effectively, this triplet "apo" telescope produces impeccable visual views and razor-sharp astrophotos without any fringing or loss of clarity.
  
  The 85 mm EON ED-X2 refractor measures 560mm in focal length with a fast f/6.6 focal ratio which is excellent for wide-field visual and photographic use. It uses multiple internal baffles to prevent off-axis reflections for excellent contrast, and a retractable lens shade helps eliminate glare and dew buildup.   This beautiful piece of optical engineering includes a hybrid-drive 2" rack and pinion focuser capable of supporting imaging trains of up to 17.6 lbs of weight. The focuser features 11:1 ratio dual speed controls that allow for a remarkable level of precision and fine tune focusing. You can rotate the focuser 360 degrees to optimize imaging or observing convenience. The focuser permits 60mm of backfocus travel, and has a built-in focus lock knob. A step-down 1.25" adapter makes the EON 85mm ED-X2 compatible with either 2" or 1.25" size accessories.
  
  The Orion EON 85mm ED-X2 f/6.6 Triplet Apo Refractor comes with a thread-on objective lens cover, two heavy-duty machined tube rings, a sturdy machined dovetail bar for easy mount attachment, and a dovetail finder scope base (installation required). An included hard carry case with a custom die-cut foam insert ensures safe transport and convenient storage. Considering that with all the included accessories attached this OTA weighs only 9.25 lbs, the lightweight EON 85mm ED-X2 doesn't require a gigantic mount for stable support, and matches well with many medium-size mounts.
