Definitely worth the price!
I'm sure many folks look at these scopes with these monster price tags and ask "who buys this stuff?" Well, I bought this! After years of research comparing and contrasting and saving up for nearly a lifetime I finally did it. I would say that I made the right choice! Certainly the reputation for OS optics is justified. The star images are crisp and round all the way side to side, top to bottom. The workmanship is amazing. It's like a Michelangelo work of art! I decided on the RiDK vs the RC for 2 reasons. Collimation and the need for additional flatteners etc. Folks, this is the easiest collimation I have ever seen on any reflector, and I have had newtonians and RC scopes in the past. Basically it comes pretty well collimated right out of the box. 3 simple collimating screws on the primary had to be tweaked for perfect collimation! I went with all the upgrades including the telescope control system and mirror shutters etc. The most recent version of their telescope control. called OS Bus is a big improvement over the older AT system as there is only 1 cable to connect to the primary and 1 power cord. Much less cable management to deal with. Overall it was not a difficult set up. Technical support may not be quite as forthcoming as you might expect but at this level more than likely you would not be seriously considering this if you did not have reasonable prior experience in astroimaging. Bottom line: superb optics and workmanship. Highly recommended!
