Moravian G3-11000 Mk.1 Cooled Monochrome CCD Camera

The Moravian G3-11000 Class 1 CCD Camera is an excellent deep sky camera that will undoubtedly impress even the most experienced astronomers. The image clarity and cooling efficiency are not to be underestimated. 

G3 CCD cameras offer all essential astronomical camera features like great sensitivity, low noise, efficient and regulated cooling, robust design, rich set of accessories and software support and especially large sensor area for an affordable price. And Mark I series of G3 cameras inherits all these features, but brings some significant enhancements, like much faster download speeds and adjustable (tiltable) telescope adapters.

The cooled G3 series Mark I CCD cameras were developed for imaging under extremely low-light conditions in astronomy, microscopy and similar areas. Design of this series inherits from earlier G3 Mark I cameras but brings some significant enhancements. G3 cameras employ precise electronics providing uniform frames and extremely low read noise limited only by CCD detector itself.

No matter if your target is reliable scientific data or beautiful images of deep-sky objects, G3 cameras are able to provide both.

Camera Electronics

The G3 cameras have a 16-bit analog to digital converter that offers correlated double sampling to ensure high dynamic range and limit readout noise.

The USB interface offers two types for download speeds, Preview, and Low Noise, which allows you to download your full fame images in seconds. When using a USB interface, the maximum cable length is approximately 16ft. The cable length can be extended up to 49ft if you are using an active USB extender cable.

The sensor used by the Moravian G3-11000 is a quality chip that will certainly satisfy even the most particular astronomers. With a pixel size of 9 μm and an image area of 36.3mm x 24.2mm, you're sure to capture whatever your target may be in the deep sky. A chart of the quantum efficiency is below.

Camera Cooling System

Thermoelectric cooling (TEC) can cool the CCD down to 48°C (53°C with enhanced cooling) below ambient temperature. Precision regulation ensures a very low dark current for long exposures.

Moravian G3 cameras come with a 12V DC power supply adapter and a universal 100-240 V AC/50-60Hz, 60W “brick” adapter. The power connector on the camera head uses a center-positive pin.

Moravian Camera Compatibility

Scientific Image Processing System (SIPS) software comes with the camera and allows complete camera control. The software also allows for automatic sequences, complete image calibration, and more.

ASCOM Drivers and native third-party software drivers are also available like The Sky X, MaxIm DL, Prism, Nebulosity, SkyTools, and others.
