DESCRIPTION

Moravian G2-8300 Mark II Ultimate Package

The cooled G2 series Mark II CCD cameras were developed for imaging under extremely low-light conditions in astronomy, microscopy and similar areas. Design of this series inherits from earlier G2 Mark I cameras but brings some significant enhancements. G2 cameras employ precise electronics providing uniform frames and extremely low read noise limited only by CCD detector itself. Modular mechanical construction allows various camera variants to be combined with rich set of accessories, including telescope adapters, off-axis guider adapters, internal or external filter wheels, Ethernet adapters, guiding cameras etc.

KAF-8300 Sensor

G2 series of CCD cameras are manufactured with “Full Frame” CCD sensors manufactured by On Semiconductor (formerly Kodak) This model uses the KAF-8300 CCD which is know for its high resolution and dynamic range.

Sensor Specs

  • An array of 3358 x 2536 (8.5-Megapixels)
  • 5.4-micron pixel size
  • Anti-blooming Technology
  • A Quantum Efficiency of 55%
  • Dark Current Doubling Temperature is 5.8℃
  • A 25,500 electron well depth.

Camera Electronics

The G2 cameras have 16-bit analog to digital converter that offers correlated double sampling to ensure high dynamic range and limit readout noise.

The USB interface offers two types for download speeds, Preview and Low Noise, which allows you download your full fame images in seconds. When using a USB interface, the maximum cable length is approximately 16ft. The cable length can be extended up to 49ft if you are using an active USB extender cable.

Gain 0.8 e/ADU (1x1 binning)
1.3 e/ADU (other binnings)
System Read Noise 7 e RMS (Low Noise mode)
9 e RMS (Preview mode)
Full frame download 4.95s (Low Noise mode)
3.48s (Preview mode

If the USB cable option is too short for your observatory setup, the GX Camera Ethernet Adapter allows connection of up to four GX cameras of any type though a TCP/IP and Ethernet interface, which increases the connection range to an unlimited distance.

7-position 36mm Filter Wheel

Included with this package is a 7x36mm filter wheel. The filter wheel provides the best sensor coverage while offering a large number of filter postions. The large diameter pivot pin and bushings provide a smooth, quiet no-fuss operation night after night.

Large OAG

The G2-8300 Ultimate Camera Package comes equipped with Off-Axis Guider . This adapter contains a flat mirror, tilted by 45° to the optical axis. This mirror reflects part of the incoming light into guider camera port. The mirror is located far enough from the optical axis not to block light coming to the main camera sensor.

Like all Large G4 Camera adapters this OAG features thee tip-Tilt adjustment screws. These microadjustmes allows you to make sure that camera sensor is perfectly parallel to a telescopes focal plane.

OAGs are the most accurate way to autoguide your system. When using a OAG you are guiding though exact same telescope that you are immaging with. This eliminates cone error provides and the maximum resolution possible for the guide camera.

Cooling & Power Supply

Thermoelectric cooling (TEC) can cool the CCD down to 42°C below ambient temperature. Precision regulation ensures very low dark current for long exposures.

Moravian G4 cameras come with a 12V DC power supply adapter and a universal 100-240 V AC/50-60Hz, 60W “brick” adapter. The power connector on the camera head uses a center-positive pin.
