Meade LX85 8" ACF f/10 Modified SCT OTA Telescope
The Meade Instruments LX85 8" f/10 ACF UHTC Catadioptric Telescope has a large aperture and long focal length to allow you to make detailed observations of the moon and planets, views of wispy nebulae, spiraling galaxies, and tight star clusters.
This telescope has Meade's Advanced Coma-Free (ACF) optics to reduce color fringing and off-axis coma, enabling it to clearly resolve dim deep-sky objects and easily split binary stars with tack-sharp clarity. Their Ultra-High Transmission Coatings (UHTC) system improves light transmission through the entire light path.
This version of the LX85 is offered without a mount or tripod for users who already have a reliable system and are looking to upgrade their optical tube assembly or add another to their astronomy kit. It comes with a Vixen-style dovetail rail to make it compatible with a wide variety of mounts from virtually any manufacturer. Included is two eyepieces that produce low and high magnifications, a 90° star diagonal, and an 8x50 finderscope.
Advanced Coma-Free Optics (ACF)
Building from a classic RC design, Meade created a new design with coma-free pinpoint star images and flatter field. The ACF design reduces astigmatism and eliminates dffraction spikes found in classical RCs. Ultra-High Transmission Coatings (UHTC)
Specialized Multi-layered coating that are preciesely designed to improve the performance of your telescopes optics. You'll see brighter star clusters, more fine details in nebulas, and more surface features on planets with UHTC than without. Averaged over the entire visible spectrum, total light transmission to the focus increases by 15%.
