    Meade LX70 R5 - 5" Achromatic Refractor Telescope Optical Tube Assembly

    The Meade LX70 5 inch Achromat Refractor is equipped with a high-quality air-spaced objective lens producing high resolution and incredible contrast for lunar, planetary, and deep-sky observations.

    Its 120mm clear aperture allows it to resolve details down to 0.9 arc-seconds across and can be viewed using the two included 1.25 inch Plossl eyepieces (9mm & 26mm).

    With its 2 inch rack and pinion focuser and 2 inch 90 degree diagonal, it is equipped to handle wide-field 2 inch eyepieces out of the box.

    The 6x30 optical viewfinder with cross-hair reticle makes locating faint object quickly and easily.

    Vixen-style Dovetail with Cradle Rings are included making the optical tube ready for your own custom mounting system.

    NOTE: Shown in additonal photos with optional Meade LX70 German Equatorial Mount (ME-41-7100-00, not included).

    • I am considering buying a Sky-Watcher Esprit 120. Will the Vixen GPDX handle the Esprit for visual use?

      Hey Paul, the weight of the Skywatcher is 22lbs. and the Vixens payload is 35lbs. For visual purposes, this mount will suit your needs. Just make sure you have enough counterweights to balance.

    • How long is the tube, what is the Resolution & what kind of glass is this

      Good afternoon and thanks for your interest. The OTA is approximately 42" long. It will resolve detail to .9 arcseconds. Meade does not list the original manufacturer of the glass.

    • I have a CGEM mount and right now my 9.25" SCT has a Losmandy plate on it. Will I need to get to get a wide plate for this scope or will the narrower plate work with the CGEM?
