The attractive Meade LX70 German Equatorial Mount includes brass worm-gear drives on both axes with slow-motion controls, aluminum setting circles, and built-in leveling bubble. For smooth tracking performance, the large knob slow-motion control cables make it easy to track objects under any viewing condition.
The heavy-duty and lightweight steel tripod is equipped with a full-size accessory tray and holds both 2" and 1.25" eyepieces. The adjustable height makes long nights of viewing comfortable for observers of any age.
Available as a stand-alone mount or packaged with Meade's 5" Achromat, 6" or 8" Newtonian Reflector, or 6" Maksutov-Cassegrain the mount accepts any vixen-style dovetail and can be used for mounting third-party optical tubes up to 20 lbs. The LX70 mount breaks down into three lightweight pieces making it portable and easy to set up. The LX-70 Equatorial Mount comes with slow-motion control knobs so that the user can manually move the mount in smooth increments to center and/or track any astronomical object.
With Meade's optional polar scope (670010), finding the celestial poles with high precision is easy. With an optional dual-axis motor drive (670011) the LX70 German Equatorial mount becomes an imaging platform ideal for high-performance observing or astrophotography with the push of a button.

How much dose the tripod/mount weigh? George
The tripod and mount with no counterweights weight approximately 23 lbs (10 for the head and 13 for the tripod). The counterweights add 4 and 7 lbs each.

Does this mount track objects or do you have to do it manually?
Out of the box, the LX70 mount has no motorized tracking ability, but Meade does make a dual axis motor that can be added to allow the motor to track in RA and slew slowly in both RA and Dec. The part number is ME-670011: https://www.optcorp.com/meade-lx
