JMI MotoFocus for Celestron NexStar 5/6/8SE

JMI Motofocus is an electric focus motor for precise, vibration-free focusing without the need to touch the telescope. It is great for visual and photographic use and features variable speed for coarse and fine adjustment.

Precise positioning is accomplished through electronic braking. Mounting is easy and requires no drilling or tapping. Add the optional Digital Read Out (DRO), or Digital Focus Counter (DFC), for improved focusing accuracy and repeatability.

Love this motofocuser

Just mounted the JMK Motofocuser to my Nexstar 8SE. I had to shave down the rubber focusing knob cover at the end close to the telescope back to allow the little red wire that protrouds from the focused and rubs against the knob cover. Apart from that minor issue, the focused works great and totally eliminates the normal shaking caused by touching the focusing knob with your fingers.

JMI Moto focus

I have only installed it and tried it in the house, it seems to do what I wanted. I did get an extension for the cable.

Great focuser for the Money

My only concern was that the JMI MotoFocus wouldn't be sensitive enough for my setup. I'm using a Celestron 8SE with Hyperstar at 395FL, F1.9. Using a B-Mask, I don't see a focus change until about the 3rd punch of the button. Saved me $150 from buying a micro-touch focuser and I don't have to touch the scope. Installation is a breeze.

easy to install, easy to use, functions as advertised

I was always bugged by the shake and shudder when manually adjusting the focus on my NextStar SE6, but this unit really did the trick. It came well-packaged in foam inside a sturdy box. It was easy to install and even included longer screws to replace the OEM ones. It's a little tedious using the Allen wrench because it only the short end fits, but a least they included one, too. Once installed the unit worked flawlessly and made my viewing of last night's full moon even more pleasurable than it would have been. Have not had to change batteries yet, but that should be a snap. I would be helpful if advertising and instructions stated what kind of battery(ies) it uses and how to change it/them, but that's a minor point. Hope this is helpful.
